Test Results
So... My therapist got back the results of the MMPI-A test that I took. She says it confirmed her suspicion that I have emerging Schizophrenia. She wants me to go to a Psychiatrist.
She's my second opinion, her older sister had it. I don't, like, think she's off her rocker or anything. Mum is trying to get me into a psychiatrist but it seems like everyone is booked until April or May. Is it always such a long wait? The time doesn't bother me, but mum dislikes the thought. I've read about it. But it doesn't seem to actually tell me anything. Before I was on RYL Schizophrenia seemed to be something that people only got in movies. I don't know why I'm making this post, I'm just hoping someone has something helpful to offer, I guess. My mother is still processing. She doesn't like the idea and thinks it's melodramatic. She doesn't really want to talk about it. I am trying to give her space because I didn't tell her all of what is going on until recently, and not specifically, and I didn't tell her when it was first suggested to me. But this time it isn't just an offhand suggestion. I feel sort of isolated in all of this. |
Tbh, that does seem like the usual amount of waiting time to get assessed/see a psychiatrist. I have known it take up to a year for people to get seen

I figured that was the case, so I told my mum to make the appointment offered in May, and as it happened, there was a cancellation and I now have an appointment for tomorrow.
I'm trying not to panic but I don't understand this system, or whats going on really. I don't know how the appointment is supposed to go. Can someone please explain things to me? I'm so lost, it's like I'm going in blind. |
Usually they ask you questions about your past, what you are struggling with, relationships with people, how you see yourself etc.

Thank you very much for responding.
I had an okay appointment I suppose. The doctor started me on Abilify. I can't even take Acetaminophen without feeling sick so I can only image what fun I will have on other medications. But anyway, thanks again for responding. |
I hope that the new medication helps. It might be that the side effects, like feeling sick, settle down in a few days, they usually do.
