The Early Intervention Team

I am being referred to the EIT soon, i was just wondering what i can expect, like what are they and what are people's experiences of working with them.

thank you x

The early intervention in psychosis team?

Ballerina123 27-01-2013 12:17 PM

I'm under the early intervention team and they have been amazing.
I'm not sure if all teams offer the same thing but in my team I get a care coordinator who I see once or twice a weeks. She looks at a lot of paychosocial stuff with me, like making sure I'm managing at Uni, organising my benifits, helping with housing, working out a relapse plan, ect.
I also have a psychologist who works on changing my thoughs when I am psychotic or in a mood episode (I have bipolar with psychosis).
I see a consultant who specialises in psychosis so my medication is well managed.
There is also a psychosis group I can go to that is ran by my team.

I have had a very good experience with this team.

Are there specific questions you have? X

I was just wondering what they did but you pretty much explained it to me, thanks :)

I was under them for around 3 years i started with one nurse while i was under 18 then changed when i became 18. I found them really great. I saw them once a week and they would take me out to do what ever i want to do. It was my EIIP worker that helped me show my scars and wear short sleeves.

I was told when i was discharged after 3 years i had already been with them too long.

I've recently been taken in by them. So far I've met with a consultant psychiatrist who assessed me and have been appointed a CC who I meet with nearly every week.

Hope they help.

I had an assessment with them and they were lovely although my assessment was about 3 hours long. So beware that you may come across that. They decided I wasn't right for their service but moved me to the right people so they were very helpful for me. Good luck.

I am coming to the end of my time with the EIT in my area. They are a fantastic team with more resources than the normal teams. They work with people typically aged 16 - 35 who are experiencing a first episode of psychosis. They will work with you for 3 years.
