Ranting / Venting Forum
Can someone please explain to me as to what the purpose is of the ranting / venting forum? I don't see how posting lots of angry threads and not getting any advice or replies from others can help.

sometimes it helps just to get things off your chest in that way
some people find it very cathartic |
because sometimes you dont want replies, sometimes you want to just get whats in your head out.
|
Oly you posted a few threads in R/V yourself back in 2008. Perhaps you would find it useful to try to think about what your motivation for posting then was?
I find it helpful to get things out of my head sometimes and written down. I could of course write them on paper, or as a word document but using RV is a way to both get it out of your head, and allow others to know how you are feeling. I'm not quite sure why it often feels more helpful than simply writing stuff down, but it does. |
It can be incredibly cathartic to just write for no purpose other than getting those thoughts and feelings out of your head that are causing you distress. I find it therapeutic because you can write however you like, with no literary boundaries. If I wanted to, I could write one word entries, fragmented sentences, lengthy paragraphs, depending upon my mood, and I would come away feeling better. Sometimes it helps to stop thinking and mulling it over in your mind, to write it down and gain some perspective.
I don't R/V anymore for reasons I won't go into but I do write extensively in a journal and it helps me in more ways than I can express. I love it. I also use it to analyse what I am feeling and my interactions with everybody, as well as documenting good times and recognising them. You can discover patterns in your behaviour through writing and you will remember more things due to the memories being on-hand. |
I agree with others.
I find it sometimes helpful just to get **** out and just get it off my chest, like if someone has pissed me off or something I can't really have a go at them I will just go to my R/V and rant about it there and it can help me feel better just getting it out. |
The ranting and venting forum used to allow replies but then they turned in support threads. Sometimes you dont need/want other peoples advice or people saying they know how you feel.
Its important to write down how you feel etc, gives you a chance to look at what youre thinking from an outside perspective. |
I posted in R / V because I thought I'd get a reply; I didn't know they didn't do replies there. That's why I never posted again.
I see, catharsis. I guess I can't relate because I like practical solutions to problems. |
I think that sometimes R/Ving can help you find and discover practical solutions to problems. I know that it has helped me when I have doubted that I am moving on because I can see progression.
|
True.
|
I sometimes use the R/V forum to get stuff out when I feel like I cannot say it. Also if I am not sure how to say stuff to someone as often one of my friends will message me and ask what is wrong.
|
Ok fair enough.
Thanks for explaining. |
