how do i tell a friend that my parents are abusive?
 

I have a friend and we were talking about how our life at home is and i kinda hinted at it but i kinda want him just to understand why i dont really talk about mom or dad and why i have flashbacks or twitch. how do i bring it up?

First of all I wanted to say I think this is a really brave step you're thinking of taking, so well done.

To be honest, I think the best way, as hard as it is, I think it is a subject you simply need to be straight about. Tell him there's something you'd like to discuss with him about your home life then dive in. It sounds like you trust him so I am sure he will listen to what you say.

Maybe that things are very difficult at times and that your parents have quite severe problems that act upon you?

now im second guessing if i should tell him or not. what if he gets scared of me

Why would he be scared of you? Probably he'll just be very concerned and want to help. Honey, trust your instincts - if you think you can trust this person, and that it will help you to confide in him, tell him. Maybe introduce him to the situation slowly? *offers safe hugs*
