broke up with my partner in feb, we are still really good friends and people cant seem to understand. tonight i have been called all sorts mainly for leaving him by his mutual friends although it was 100% mutual but not easy decision to make. just wondering if anyoone else has done this and if it works out

I don't think it's fair that his friends are doing this to you, if it was mutal then they definitely don't have a right to call you everything. It's your's and your ex's business and they should respect that.

I can't say that it will or won't work out because each relationship, and every person is different and how the break up works/ends up will depend on those people and how they feel. Even if you agree to be friends, you still might drift apart later on but on the other side of the coin, if you aren't friends when the relationship ends, you could still end up being friends in the future.

I think maybe speak to your ex about what his friends are saying to you and get him to explain to them that it was a mutual decision to end your relationship and their actions are not going to change anything apart from make things uncomfortable.

i have just been left by my partner of 7 years (civil partner of 2yrs) and we are still really good friends. our friends are giving her a rough ride too. basically people will interfere for their own reasons but the 2 of you need to just concentrate on your own relationship if you plan to stay friends. she had a new gf after a week and it was hard but if you want to stay friends do not let others sway you. you feel what you feel and you think what you think. dont let others tell you you are wrong. x
