Graphic visions
Ive been experiencing graphic visions that feelmso real that once they are finished im dazed and comfused as to whether they have actually happened. I see it play out in front of me, like its all i can see and my eyes are closed although they are wide open, so like a dream really but awake.
Is this could it be classed as an hallucination? My cpn isnt sure what it could be. Hs anyone experiemced similiar. Some are related to death and loved ones dying in horrid graphic grusome ways which is so gorey and scary, some have involved my little boy and these are the scariest, i hate it. |
i have experienced nearly exactly this.
i havent really got any advice, but you aren't alone, a lot of the visions involve my baby girl, like you, i find these the worst. do you have any warning signs of when its going to happen? i tend to get like, a flash of it before it really starts, so sometimes i get the opportunity to do something, like talk to someone or putting something funny on tv sometimes helps. im so sorry you get this, i know how indescribably horrible it is. are you involved with any other mh people, like a psychologist? |
I have had these too, but they have largely subsided. Could they be linked with obsessional thoughts or worries, I wonder.
Something I found helpful was to actively put myself in a position of being in control whilst within the visions. i.e. if I imagined something bad happening to me, I could get up and fight, or get to safety. It's like, not being passive whilst it's going on, I guess. Another helpful option could be to, as soon as the visions begin, get up and do something else. Make a cup of tea, wash the dishes, do a puzzle or phone a friend. I find that biting down on a piece of citrus fruit is quite grounding. |
Ive only got a psych and cpn, my psychs on hols till sept so cant see him till then.
I dont recognise anything happening before but i will try to look out for warning signs. Could this be psychosis :( |
I did wonder if they are intrusive thoughts based but i dont conciously obsess over my little boy getting hurt or car accidents and the other stuff i see.
I hear whispers too but im confused to whether they are real or not. Its scary my little boy is nearly 9 months and i cant be getting madder again, i want need to be a good mum to him. :'( |
I'm not a doctor, but do mention your concerns about psychosis to your team. In my experience it's more likely to be intrusive thinking/imagery which feels very real whilst it's happening.
|
the staff here have said its more obsessive thoughts than psychosis, but of course, everyone is different.
i also do the same as Laura, put myself in the position of being hurt, rather than my baby. personally, i find it easier to deal with. definatley speak to your psych though xx |
I get these too which can be really distressing. I class them as intrusive thoughts rather than hallucinations and relate them to my anxiety about things. Some are random but most relate to my family or baby.

Thanks everyone for your advice and support.
Just another question. If your hearing stuff but its not from outside but not your own thoughts is it well would it classed as psychosis. Ive experienced psychosis but not for over 1.5 years now. Its like voices but mixed in with the noise around me but very definitely voice, i cant make out all that is said, it sounds like another language. Im scared someone is going to hurt my baby and i will protect him at all costs. |
i think they generally say if its voices from inside your head, they dont say its psychosis? but im not entirely sure.
i am going through very similar things, so i probably wont be a great deal of practical help, but you are not alone, you can PM me anytime xx |
I hear voices on the outside of my head at the back but psychosis has never been mentioned I don't think. The man is always behind me.
|
I have almost exactly this and was told today that the assesment psychiatrust thinks its OCD (but my Dr/prvious CPN queried psychosis)
Sorry I can't be more help |
