What are people's experiences of aripiprazole?
 

I've been on 10mg for about a month now.

It's helped with the thoughts and maybe managing my mood but it's hardly done anything else in comparision with Quetiapine. It's been much easier on me physically in the sense that it's doesn't put a strain on my heart compared with Quetiapine. I have issues with tachycardia and it seems to have helped with that.

I've had no issues with weight gain on it or anything like that, which was part of the reasons I went on it. It did make me feel sick in the beginning but it's fine now. I think it might have increased anxiety levels a little but again it's fine now.

I was on Abilify for about a year and a half... I thought it was amazing for me anyway. It used to make me a tiny bit sleepy but I just took it at night and was fine for the rest of the day.

It made my mood stable and it didnt yoyo like it was doing before. I took it alongside a Antidepressant as I still had moments of severe lows that still needed to be dealt with but other than that it was really good.

I'm not sure why I was on it so I can't really tell if it helped. The only side effect I think I had, which did pass eventually, was akathisia (internal restlessness.) If you're trying it I hope you find it helpful.

I have been on aripiprizole twice in the past. The first time it helped but made me tremor uncontrollably. The second was a bit better but made me very agitated and I found it incredibly hard to sleep.

I am on 30mg and have been on and off for some years now. I haven't had any side effects however it hasn't helped me that much either. i still need another antipsychotic so it hasn't been all that great for me.

It did not work for me. The Symptoms of schizophrenia remained. I also did not sleep for more than five hours a week for three weeks. I was then taken off it. Hope that helps.

I don't have first hand experiance, but I have heard its good with anxiety and psychosis, if you can give it a trial, I would see how it works for you.

I didn't get on with it, It caused me to constantly move I couldn't control it, my hand twitched all the time, I couldn't focus, Had akathisia and it wasn't good but, I have heard good things from others so it can't be all bad. I just didn't get on with it.

It's working well for me. My voices have gone pretty much, I've almost forgotten what it's like to have voices anymore. Initially i was VERY woozy and dizzy and wired up like I was on drugs, but it wore off eventually and now I just sleep more than usual and have higher anxiety than usual, otherwise though,it's worth it. I get weakness too, but again, it's worth it because it has helped me loads and kept me out of hospital and returning to a normal life again with healthy activities, all of this wouldnt be possible if it wasn't for aripiprazole! xx

I have been on and off this for about 5 years, with doses from 10mg to 30mg. I am on 20mg now.

Its the best in terms of side effects but not the most effective thing I've ever took. Suppose it helps though.

It didn't help me much. And gave me postural hypotension. And worsened my thermoregulatory dysfunction. Although in my case I find sedating antipsychotics work better for me.
