Doctors appointments
 
i dont know if this is the right place for this question but i was wondering what age it is that I can go to the doctors to get help about stuff without my parents knowing (like the doctor wont tell them)?

well i think you can go at any age without them tellin your parents as long as ya not in danger but if ya in danger they cant tel ya parents afta 16 i no for sure cos i went wen 16 but not totally sure sorry xxx

It's a little more complicated than that, as it depends on where you live and what your local laws and rules are.

From what I understand in the UK once you are 16 they can not speak to anyone about your medical care except for people directly involved (like other doctors and nurses) unless you are in immediate danger of being hurt or hurting yourself.

However, the specific local laws where you are may vary.

If you are under 16 the may use something called "Gilleck Competance" basically if you are able to understand the full implications of treatment/your illness they can choose not to tell your parents if you don't want them to. It's a bit complicated but it meant i used to see CAHMS without parental consent for a while.
