Medication issue?
 

*Sorry if this is in the wrong place, it's been a while since I've logged in here*

A few months ago I had a relapse with my depression and anxiety, which resulted in being put back on propanalol and fluoxetine. The drugs seem to be working ok, my moods are generally stable, however, I have begun a new relationship and have found I have completely lost my sex drive. By this I mean that even the thought of sex disgusts me now.

I understand that it is most likely a side effect of the fluoxetine. But I am worried if I go back to the doctor I may end up with the never-ending cycle of trying to find a drug that works again just so I don't suffer from this side effect. I have also begun to abuse codeine based medication to ensure I don't get panic attacks from things that happen over and above my normal base stress level.

Does anyone have any suggestions for this? It is stressing me out majorly, which is really not helping my mental state at the moment.

Flouoxatine is actually the worst for this side effect. You could go back to your doctor and ask to swap to a different SSRI. It should have similar effects at sleigh tending out your mood but you could get rid of the low sex drive side effect.
