Olanzapine
Hi,
I was prescribed a 2.5mg dose of Olanzapine in which to be taken at night. Has anyone gained weight with this small dose? And are there any "side effects?" x |
Hey!
I was prescribed 2.5mg of olnzapine twice a day back in 2008 and have been on the same dose ever since, however i now take 5 mg just once a day before bed. I personally haven't gained any weight on these tablets, but everybody is different. I have also had no bad side effects, the only side effect i have is that it can make me quite sleepy, but if you're taking it before bed then that shouldn't be a problem. For me they have helped massively stabilize my moods and for me have been the best medication i've taken. What is it you have been prescribed it for? Hope it helps you |
also the first time i took it, did make me very very very stoned, but that never happened with the second dose.
|
I worry how it's going to affect me tonight, but hopefully it will help me to get some rest!
They've prescribed it to me for anxiety, PTSD symptoms and depression. I'm on 150mg of Setreline as well. The Psychiatrist gave me a prescription for 2 weeks and told me I have to see the doctor in two weeks time. |
Yeah make sure you rest, as it will probably make you very stoned/sleepy, like i said it did for me, but that quickly disappeared by the next evening. Everybody reacts differently though.
Mine was prescribed to combat my very bad mood swings. Hope it works well for you, and that it helps. :) |
Thank you.
Are there any side effects the next day? |
You may be drowsy. For some people it's only a little, for others more prominent so just be aware of that. x

I'm on olanzapine, started on 10mg a day now on 20mg a day. When I first started taking it I would become very sleepy after about 20 mins of taking it and would be pretty drowsy the next day, but after a while that wears off, now I don't get very sleepy at all.

Can you take Diclophenic with it?
I just got back from A&E and forgot to ask! |
As far as I'm aware, yes. Well I have taken them both together but it should be listed in the medication leaflet about contradictions?
If you are worried, you could give NHS Direct a ring or go to the pharmacy tomorrow. x |
