moments that remind you that you are an adult

so today I was on the bus back from town when it starts to pour down and instead of "oh no I'm going to get wet" my first thought was "Nooooo I have washing on the line at home!!!" kind of made me realise that I am an adult lol

so I thought it could be "fun" to list/discuss those moments that remind us/make us realise that we are adults now

happiness...its all a lie 14-05-2012 04:22 PM

lol that made me giggle!!

probably when i got my first job and wanted to go to bed early rather than out with friends- felt really old and grown up normally i didnt care but had to be in a good state to work and not smelling of alcohol etc. Bit of a boring one but hey.

Looking out of the window at new-fallen snow and thinking "The roads are going to be a nightmare!" rather than "Wahey! Who's up for a snowball fight?"... :notsure:

having to worry about budgeting properly, otherwise you wouldn't be able to buy food! and having to buy boring things like milk, vegetables and bread, and not fun things like chocolate and clothes!!!

xMakeSomeNoisex 14-05-2012 08:44 PM

lol these made me laugh.
Hmm I guess mine would be when my mom keeps telling me she wants grandchildren. I mean I am not even considering getting married at this point so having her point out that all my friends are married and have children makes me realize I really am an adult even though I act like a kid.

Seeing girls out clubbing in mini skirts and tiny dresses and thinking "They're going to catch their death!"

If it's a nice day I'm more excited about getting to hang the washing out.

Not knowing who the band is on the radio/TV.

Bills and comparing companies

Thinking up unique ways to use leftovers

Being irritated by drunken youths on a saturday night when you're in bed trying to sleep.
At 10pm.

ive thought of another one, when i listen to conversations amongst school kids on the bus, im like, wow, did i really think those things were so important!

and the fact that nerds are cool nowadays in schools. no longer to be made fun of. (probably because they are capable of hacking fb
accounts) makes me feel old

The other day when I actually uttered the words 'ugh kids today!' the other day when out with my boyfriend. We went bowling and the kids in the lane next to us were really obnoxious lol.

When I look at high-heeled shoes and think, 'nah, I want something more comfortable.'

random.swirls 15-05-2012 10:18 PM

Having mice in the house and having to deal with them alone

Seeing kids today and thinking how young are they!

Realising my 30th is rapidly approaching and im now older then my parents were when i was born

Gone. 15-05-2012 10:30 PM

When you would rather have a cup of tea, a chat with a friend and a movie than go on a night out...

& when you're going on a trip with some older friends and they plan to be in the club before 10pm! I don't think I've ever been in a club at that time before!

When you hear a siren and think " I hope it's not too bad" rather than wanting to wave as it goes past.

BridgesAndBalloons 16-05-2012 05:38 PM

Complaining about the kids being silly in the street outside and making a lot of noise.
Talking to my Mom about water rates.
Getting excited about Tesco clubcard coupons.
Assessing days as either good or bad days to dry washing outside.
Being concerned at the amount of people who break the speed limit on our street because there's a school near by.

I feel like I've aged 20 years since I moved out of home about two years ago

Having to build my own flatpack furniture!

Elmer 16-05-2012 09:53 PM

^Read that as 'flapjack furniture'. Was confused as to how this was a grown up activity. =P

When you get excited that there's nice loo roll on offer xD

DarkPhoenix 16-05-2012 10:18 PM

Seeing teenagers wandering around a shopping center at midnight and thinking "do your parents know you're out this late?"
