UK - Question about going inpatient
We're not doing well right now. Things have been pretty rough over the last month or so, and were made worse yesterday by some **** touching us somewhere he shouldn't. We're really struggling with body memories, flashbacks and self injury and I'm thinking about whether I should consider inpatient for a while to make sure we actually get to the other side of this horrible downward spiral.
My question is, how would I go about going in voluntarily? I've been in a crisis house before, but don't want to go back there as they didn't really help and were pretty pants to be honest. We'd rather go to hospital this time if we did actually go anywhere. We're in SW of England if that helps. |
Who are we? You and who?
You can ask your psych about going ip but it is usually them that decides weather you go ip in the uk. You don't usually ask. But tell the team your situation and they might consider it. |
I have Dissociative Identity Disorder. Me & my system members (i.e. the others who share this body).
I figured as much and I don't have a Pdoc or T at the mo; we do have a CPN though, I'll speak to her Tuesday. |
Speak to your gp or cpn.

bare in mind that they will probably use hospital as a last resort. Hospital is more about keeping you safe than actually helping if that makes sense?
|
I think it's probably too late to be kept safe. Suppose I just hoped. Never mind. Thanks.

What's happened?? *worried*
|
What do you mean by too late?
|
Can you let us know what is going on for you right now? If you're not safe please get yourself to the emergency room at your local hospital.
Hope you're okay and can let us know how you are soon. |
I would think that hospital be last resort.
It's not a very helpful place to be unless you are unsafe, or in danger to yourself or other people. It's definitely not something I would wish on anyone. I would definitely chat with your CPN about it first to weigh options, there are plenty good places to go for help other than hospital. |
