Images...
Hello, I hope everybody is okay.
Sorry I don't usually post in here and I don't want to take up room etc, but I'm actually a little worried and scared. I feel like I'm going insane. Like literally And I dont know what to do. I don't want everyone else to think i am insane too. I was wondering if anyone knows what this is... Its hard for me to admit... but I keep seeing images in my head. They aren't necessarily scary or creepy, but sometimes they are, they're not like videos or voices they are just flashes of images. Some stay for a while others are just a flash. And it happens all the time. Randomly for no reason, and they are all unrelated to the situation I am in. I could be talking with a friend of revising and i'll just see random images. They range from doors to mannequin's to mirrors... I dunno, I'm sorry, I was just wondering if anyone knew what this was?... I know i should see a doctor or whatever but i'm not failing to function and its not hurting me i'm just worried and its freaking me out... I can't believe I just admitted to that... :S I'm sorry :( Thankyou for any replies :) |
I don't know what that is. Although its not causing you to stop functioning, it sounds like it is bothersome. It doesn't make you insane though *hugs* Do you have a therapist to talk to? If not, your GP can often help with referrals if they feel you require one, they may also be able to help you themselves. I know it can be scary going to someone but it can make a huge difference as well.

Are the images only in your thoughts, or do you see them as though they were around you?
I see things (as though around me) when I am at my most ill, and so understand how disturbing it can be. I suggest letting someone in your care team know, so that they can help you to deal with and process the images safely. Try to remind yourself that seeing them does not automatically make you "crazy" in any way, and your therapist and others in your care team are there to help, not to judge you. Do you think maybe printing this post and taking to your next appointment would help to break the ice on the subject for you. That, or maybe write it down to show your therapist or care-team? Be gentle with yourself. Roiben x |
I experience this too. The images are in my head, not hallucinations, but feel very real when then are happening, often accompanied by bodily sensations, strong emotions. I often see a little girl, people in cloaks/maks, tunnels, a weird Minotaur thing, dolls, corpses and other things. I tend to get quite scared by them, but not sure what causes them. I'm quite artistic and tend to relate to things visually so maybe that's something to do with it. I talked to my psychologist once and she suggested that, she said she'd be more likely to hear voices as she's a talker.
Do talk to your therapist, it might be some kind of unconscious feeling breaking through. I don't think she will think you're crazy. |
Thankyou both for your replies :) i didn't expect anyone else to reply!
Roiben, no, I only see them in my thoughts, they seem real but they aren't like around me or hallucinations if that makes sense... I know I really should tell them... I don't know, I don't want them to think I'm more insane! Thankyou for your kind words, I may write it down so I don't have to tell them myself :) x The Images are more like that Laura, except they are just images no bodily sensations. That doesn't sound fun though :( It does however sound like it may be to do with your artistic side. I'm probably the least artistic person ever! I'm a mathematician so i don't really understand why I would see 'artistic' images. Thankyou very much for your reply :) Sorry this is quite long! Thankyou both :) |
