Suggest A Song.
I don't know about you guys, but I'm always looking for 'new' songs (as in, songs I haven't heard before, even if they are years old).
So I thought everyone could post a song with the lyrics that they don't think is popular or currently in the charts. I'm sure everyone has a few of those songs they don't think many people have heard before because they're very old or unknown. "Up To The Mountain" - PATTY GRIFFIN I went up to the mountain Because you asked me to Up over the clouds To where the sky was blue I could see all around me Everywhere I could see all around me Everywhere Sometimes I feel like I've never been nothing but tired And I'll be walking Till the day I expire Sometimes I lay down No more can I do But then I go on again Because you ask me to Some days I look down Afraid I will fall And though the sun shines I see nothing at all Then I hear your sweet voice, oh Oh, come and then go, come and then go Telling me softly You love me so The peaceful valley Just over the mountain The peaceful valley Few come to know I may never get there Ever in this lifetime But sooner or later It's there I will go Sooner or later It's there I will go. |
Lightweight - Demi Lovato
The slightest words you said Have all gone to my head I hear angels sing in your voice When you pull me close Feelings I’ve never known They mean everything And leave me no choice Light on my heart, light on my feet Light in your eyes I can’t even speak Do you even know how you make me weak I’m a lightweight Better be careful what you say With every word I’m blown away You’re in control of my heart I’m a lightweight Easy to fall, easy to break With every move my whole world shakes Keep me from falling apart Make a promise, please You’ll always be in reach Just in case I need You're there when I call This is all so new Seems too good to be true Could this really be A safe place to fall Light on my heart, light on my feet Light in your eyes I can’t even speak Do you even know how you make me weak, oh whoa? I’m a lightweight Better be careful what you say With every word I’m blown away You’re in control of my heart I’m a lightweight Easy to fall, easy to break With every move my whole world shakes Keep me from falling apart Keep me from falling down Drowned in your love It’s almost all too much Handle with care Say you’ll be there Oh, I’m a lightweight Better be careful what you say With every word I’m blown away You’re in control of my heart I’m a lightweight Easy to fall, easy to break With every move my whole world shakes Keep me from falling apart Keep me from falling apart Keep me from falling apart, oh Falling apart There's also Fix A Heart, that's my favorite song by Demi. I didn't want to post the lyrics because it could be triggering. |
One of my favourite songs is 'Vincent' by Don Mclean:
[ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wrNFDxCRzU"]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wrNFDxCRzU[/ame] Starry, starry night. Paint your palette blue and grey, Look out on a summer's day, With eyes that know the darkness in my soul. Shadows on the hills, Sketch the trees and the daffodils, Catch the breeze and the winter chills, In colors on the snowy linen land. Now I understand what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now. Starry, starry night. Flaming flowers that brightly blaze, Swirling clouds in violet haze, Reflect in Vincent's eyes of china blue. Colors changing hue, morning field of amber grain, Weathered faces lined in pain, Are soothed beneath the artist's loving hand. Now I understand what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they did not know how. Perhaps they'll listen now. For they could not love you, But still your love was true. And when no hope was left in sight On that starry, starry night, You took your life, as lovers often do. But I could have told you, Vincent, This world was never meant for one As beautiful as you. Starry, starry night. Portraits hung in empty halls, Frameless head on nameless walls, With eyes that watch the world and can't forget. Like the strangers that you've met, The ragged men in the ragged clothes, The silver thorn of bloody rose, Lie crushed and broken on the virgin snow. Now I think I know what you tried to say to me, How you suffered for your sanity, How you tried to set them free. They would not listen, they're not listening still. Perhaps they never will... I find the lyrics to be just absolutely beautiful. It's about Vincent Van Gough's struggle with depression. |
BRAD PAISLEY - Whiskey Lullaby
She put him out like the burnin' end of a midnight cigarette She broke his heart he spent his whole life tryin' to forget We watched him drink his pain away a little at a time But he never could get drunk enough to get her off his mind Until the night [1st Chorus] He put that bottle to his head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away her memory Life is short but this time it was bigger Than the strength he had to get up off his knees We found him with his face down in the pillow With a note that said I'll love her till I die And when we buried him beneath the willow The angels sang a whiskey lullaby (Sing lullaby) The rumors flew but nobody knew how much she blamed herself For years and years she tried to hide the whiskey on her breath She finally drank her pain away a little at a time But she never could get drunk enough to get him off her mind Until the night [2nd Chorus] She put that bottle to her head and pulled the trigger And finally drank away his memory Life is short but this time it was bigger Than the strength she had to get up off her knees We found her with her face down in the pillow Clinging to his picture for dear life We laid her next to him beneath the willow While the angels sang a whiskey lullaby |
Love this thread! Awesome idea <3
The Unknown- Athlete Let your world be wide open And your fears be blown apart May your voice be louder than bombs Somewhere in silence find one to trust Lift your head up Untie the knot My little sunshine Hope is never light-years away Let your senses be ignited By streams of neon singing in the dark Connected to the planet A million neighbours A sea of stars Lift your head up Untie the knot My little sunshine Hope is never light-years away Leaders, lovers come and go Outside forces you can't control Oh I see you smiling at the unknown Oh I see you smiling at the unknown Lift your head up Untie the knot My little sunshine Hope is never light-years away Lift your head up Untie the knot My little sunshine Hope is never light-years away Hope is never light-years away |
Stornoway-Zorbing. Such a good band <3
Conkers shining on the ground, The air is cooler And i feel like i just started uni Walking backwards to my van You're at your window, And i'm tripping every time i think of Lying in your attic I can feel the static The storm has broken, Heavens open Send my body out to work But leave my senses In orbit over south-east London Wind the window down and pinch Me on the shoulder else i'll be driving off to dream of Lying in your attic I can feel the static The storm has broken, Heavens open So electrifying, Oh i'm nearly flying Lost my heart between the sheets of lightening I've been singing you this song, Inside a bubble, Been Zorbing through the streets of Cowley, We were always meant to be, Zorbing together, And i think it's high time we started Lying in your attic I can feel the static The storm is breaking, windows shaking So electrifying, Oh im nearly flying Lost my heart between the sheets of lightening Lying in your attic I can feel the static The storm has broken, Heavens open So electrifying, Oh im nearly flying Lost my heart between the sheets of lightening |
The Bear- My Morning Jacket
Its a bad idea, To go down to the pier By your self after dark. It's a bad idea, Cause they're down on their luck And they've lost touch With their bleeding hearts. Bad idea, cause I've felt that way And I know I shouldn't have gone. The time is near, To come forward with Whatever killed your spark. There's still time, For you, to change your mind Or whatever else you do. There's still time. Whoaa!!! |
Crystal Shawanda - You Can Let Go Now Wind blowin' on my face Sidewalk flyin' beneath my bike A five year-old's first taste Of what freedom's really like He was runnin' right beside me His hand holdin' on the seat I took a deep breath and hollered As I headed for the street You can let go now, Daddy You can let go Oh, I think I'm ready To do this on my own (It's still) (It still feels) a little bit scary But I want you to know I'll be okay now, Daddy You can let go I was standin' at the altar Between the two loves of my life To one I've been a daughter To one I soon would be a wife When the preacher asked, 'Who gives this woman?' Daddy's eyes filled up with tears He kept holdin' tightly to my arm 'Til I whispered in his ear You can let go now, Daddy You can let go Oh, I think I'm ready To do this on my own (It's still) (It still feels) a little bit scary But I want you to know I'll be okay now, Daddy You can let go It was killin' me to see The strongest man I ever knew Wastin' away to nothin' In that hospital room 'You know he's only hangin' on for you' That's what the night nurse said My voice and heart were breakin' As I crawled up in his bed, and said You can let go now, Daddy You can let go Your little girl is ready To do this on my own It's gonna be a little bit scary But I want you to know I'll be okay now, Daddy You can let go You can let go |
Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm - Crash Test Dummies
Once there was this kid who Got into an accident and couldn't come to school But when he finally came back His hair had turned from black into bright white He said that it was from when The car had smashed so hard Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Once there was this girl who Wouldn't go and change with the girls in the change room But when they finally made her They saw birthmarks all over her body She couldn't quite explain it They'd always just been there Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm But both girl and boy were glad 'Cause one kid had it worse than that 'Cause then there was this boy whose Parents made him come directly home right after school And when they went to their church They shook and lurched all over the church floor He couldn't quite explain it They'd always just gone there Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm Mmm |

Have No Fear- Bird York
I discovered it when watching Seven Pounds, an awesome film!! Have no fear in your heart Though you feel you've been broken and lost There's a place where we will meet up again There's a place that mends your hurt and takes you in There are times faced alone When you find all the holes in yourself You don't have to walk the night on your own |

I asked this leaf as she fell from a tree, I said
'What do you think of dying?' and she said nothing back to me So I picked her up, and out of the dirt She said 'No, no, no, no, this is all wrong' she said 'I belong in the forest, not as a line in one of your songs' So I let go, and she fell to the earth I belong in the forest This old man said 'Do you fear death, son?' I said, 'No, no, no, it’s just as natural as the setting sun' He walked away, into the sunset to die I belong in the forest All these true and false fill in the blanks have been Making my eyes heavy and making my voice faint To spite my tired eyes, I'm staying up all night Staying up all night, staying up all night Sing, sing, sing, sing me a lullaby Sing, sing, sing, sing me a lullaby Sing, sing, sing, sing me a lullaby to sleep A lullaby I belong in the forest Sing, sing, sing, sing me a lullaby Sing, sing, sing, sing me a lullaby Sing, sing, sing, sing me a lullaby to sleep Grandfather Said- The Ethnographers |
Was It A Dream - 30 Seconds To Mars
Your defenses were on high Your walls built deep inside Yeah I'm a selfish bastard But at least I'm not alone My intentions never change What I wanted stays the same And I know what I should do it's time to set myself on fire Was it a dream? Was it a dream? Is this the only evidence that proves it A photograph of you and I Your reflection I've erased Like a thousand burned out yesterdays Believe me when I say goodbye forever Is for good Was it a dream? Was it a dream? Is this the only evidence that proves it A photograph of you and I Was it a dream? Was it a dream? Is this the only evidence that proves it A photograph of you and I (A photograph of you and I) Was it a dream? Was it a dream? Is this the only evidence that proves it A photograph of you and I A photograph of you and I A photograph of you and I... in love... |
Nickelback - Lullaby
Well, I know the feeling Of finding yourself stuck out on the ledge And there ain't no healing From cutting yourself with the jagged edge I'm telling you that, it's never that bad Take it from someone who's been where you're at Laid out on the floor And you're not sure you can take this anymore So just give it one more try to a lullaby And turn this up on the radio If you can hear me now I'm reaching out To let you know that you're not alone And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell 'Cause I can't get you on the telephone So just close your eyes Oh, honey here comes a lullaby Your very own lullaby Please let me take you Out of the darkness and into the light 'Cause I have faith in you That you're gonna make it through another night Stop thinking about the easy way out There's no need to go and blow the candle out Because you're not done You're far too young And the best is yet to come So just give it one more try to a lullaby And turn this up on the radio If you can hear me now I'm reaching out To let you know that you're not alone And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell 'Cause I can't get you on the telephone So just close your eyes Oh, honey here comes a lullaby Your very own lullaby Well, everybody's hit the bottom Everybody's been forgotten When everybody's tired of being alone Yeah, everybody's been abandoned And left a little empty handed So if you're out there barely hanging on... Just give it one more try to a lullaby And turn this up on the radio If you can hear me now I'm reaching out To let you know that you're not alone And if you can't tell, I'm scared as hell 'Cause I can't get you on the telephone So just close your eyes Oh, honey here comes a lullaby Your very own lullaby Oh, honey here comes a lullaby Your very own lullaby |
