Perinatal Psychiatry Team...
Okay, I thought this was probably the best place for this.
On the nineteenth of March I have an assessment appointment with the Community Perinatal Psychiatry Team...and I was just wondering what to expect? Has anyone had dealings with them and know what kind of things they're gonna want to know/ask? I'm pretty scared. I have just been told to be honest with them because it'll help - I'm pretty suicidal right now and really struggling but I'm worried about what they're gonna say if I tell them this. What they're gonna think about me and whether they'll think I'm fit to be a mother. Any advice/previous experiences would be greatly appreciated  x Katie x |
Hi there,
I would be completely honest. I'm a Mom and wanted the best for my son, and when he was 5 I sent him to live with relatives because I was dissociating and I feared he was in danger. As long as you are stable enough to take care of your baby, then I think things will be ok. But ask for help when you need it. It takes alot to have your child taken from you. As long as your're caring for it properly and not fearing for it's safety, I think it will be ok. I willingly did it for his safety. Go to therapy on a regular basis if you think it will help you Speak to them with an open heart and mind and I think you will do fine :) xxxxxx |
