how do you get to a hospital?
I dont need to go and havent ever needed to go but probebly should have a few times, but i was wondering how do people get there witohut calling an ambulance? i cannot drive and would not ask my parents to take me i dont live far from a hospital but what are ways people can get there?
|
I haven't had to go to hospital but I guess you can
call a cab take the bus If it's close you could walk there I guess. For me it would be a 5min walk. Call a friend to pick you up and take you to hospital |
You could take a taxi. Keep enough money for there and back for when you need it so you don't have to worry about having the cash. Can you ask a friend to take you?

I take the bus when I need to go to A&E, which is very infrequently. I find it is easier to deal with first thing in the morning, when there are fewer people around and you don't usually need to wait as long. I always go alone; I can't stand more people than are absolutely necessary knowing about it.

I've been wondering about this recently too... out of curiosity, how do cab drivers tend to react if they have to take you to A&E? :ermm:

Taxi, bus, train, ask a friend, walk.
And in answer to above, depends on your outward appearence and how honest you are with the taxi driver. As long as you're not sick in their cab and pay them I tend to find most don't care or ask any questions at all as to your reasons for going. Or make up something and say you are going to visit someone there- nan fell over is always believeable enough. |
Once I drove and once a friend had to take me as I was unable to physically drive. This was to a walk in centre though not A&E. If neither of those had been an option I'd have called a taxi.
When I was sent IP they made me go by ambulance which was incredibly embarassing and I made them collect me from the end of the street. |

a friends bf took me and I got the crisis team to get me a taxi back for free as I had no money
|
I either get the bus, a taxi, or The crisis team come out and take me.

I used to always get the bus. I did sometimes want to ask mates to take me but they didn't know about my sh and i didn't want to worry them by asking. I always went by myself , I did ask friends but they were always at college etc. I had to get a taxi home once as they were no buses , it was nearly midnight and that was a strange conv with the driver he was asking me if i was visiting or i had been in A&E. I said i was visiting a friend of mine. I quickly changed the subject though , lucky for me he knew my boss so we were talking about that.

I have gotten taxi's to a and e for various reasons on countless occasions.
Most taxi drivers say nothing, some ask [****ing nosey if you ask me] why I am going and I have been asked about shifts and work before [they've assumed I am finishing or starting a shift]. They really don't care unless you are visibly drunk/drugged or throwing up. I have lied before now just to avoid the questions/truth and when one driver said 'long shift' [I looked so tired] I just said yes. We keep £20 on the shelf for these instances so I can get to hospital to visit or we can get to A and E without having to divert via the cash machine. I suggest you do the same if there is no other reliable means of transport. |
On the couple of occasions I've used a taxi, the driver has assumed I work at the hospital like others have said. It's easier all round to just let them assume that or just say you're visiting someone and change the subject. It's none of their business.

Ive taken a taxi to A&E with no questions asked, though i generally dont have conversations with taxi drivers anyway. I'd usually try and get the bus though, just cos its easier. And, on two horrible occasions, my mum's taken me.

It's best to tell your parents. Because sooner or later they will find out
|
Probably take a taxi or bus.
I haven't had to do either of those to get the the hospital, though had to take a taxi home after I was taken to the hospital by police.. |
