Eye floaters or a real psychosis? :/

I'm sorry for making this thread, i wish to hide I'm such a hypocrite :/
My pysch diagnosed me with psychosis few years ago, and I don't know now if this is real or no and whats worse is that few people know about this,

I described everything right to my pysch and didn't lie but he's wrong I'm sure.

I feel like such a big liar now, cuz this is maybe a wrong diagnosis and it's just a case of eye floaters? I searched this on the internet and i know i am not a dr to say this but the information is 100% true and it applies to me, same shapes same everything

I'm depressed and i feel like I've lied to myself and to everybody else and belived my lie.

Why am i feeling so depressed :L

It's not your fault. If you described what you experience to your psychiatrist and he didn't consider it might be a medical problem, I think he's the one who's dropped the ball here, not you. You did the best you could at the time.

As it is, I don't know whether they are eye floaters or psychosis, so I think the best thing to do would be to get an appointment with an optician or your doctor and just get your sight checking.

It's not your fault at all. I have no idea if what you're experiencing is eye floaters or psychosis, you'd need to go see a different doctor for that, but a doctor misdiagnosing you is not your fault at all. I've had it happen many times, and it's very frustrating and it does make you feel bad. I've been diagnosed with so many ridiculous things and also been given treatments that were harmful because the diagnosis was so wrong and then been given more erroneous diagnoses because the treatments were changing my behavior.

From my experience, psychiatrists tend to assume that everything you are telling them has some sort of mental cause as all they really have power to do is prescribe psychiatric medication, and physical causes don't tend to get investigated as much as they should if at all. I've never really had a psychiatrist consider physical causes at all, which is actually against how diagnostics are supposed to be done where physical causes are ruled out before mental diagnoses are given. But unfortunately the system is very messed up and many doctors don't diagnose in a careful way, so know it's not your fault and that your experience is far from uncommon. There are good psychiatrists out there, but they're hard to find, and the rest really seem that they only think in the arena of mental illness and assume that everything you experience must be some sort of mental illness.

Perhaps you could go to a general doctor and discuss it with them? That might help you to get a second opinion from a non-psychiatric doctor. But definitely do not feel as if it is your fault, they are supposed to be professionals and carefully listen to you and think about all possibilities (and some do, but it seems to be the minority) and its unfortunate that there aren't checks and balances for how diagnoses are handed out. He gave you the diagnosis after you told him everything to the best of your ability; if it really is a misdiagnosis it is he that should have been more careful, not you.

There are a lot of other symptoms of psychosis - there is no way anybody should be diagnosed on the basis of seeing things alone. I think talking to your GP would be a very good place to start.
