Random question.
A friend of mine is doing a mental health awareness thing at her college, and I want to do something similar in my area. Thing is, I don't go to college. I'd like to be able to go around schools doing talks to young teenagers. I'm just not sure if I'd be able to do this as I'm only 17 and all. But I'd really like to raise awareness in my area.
Any idea's? |
Thats the advice my mum gave me and its what I'm going to do.
No offence, can you not speak to me as if I'm dumb please? |
I think it's young minds that do a vik (very important kid) thing, if you get involved in that they do a lot of awareness around mental health etc, and it's all young person based :) x x

If I could go back to college with the confidence and mentality I have now, I'd really want to go and do this to raise awareness. Have you thought about asking your friend if you can join in (unless it's part of a particular class) voltunarily?
|
I really would except she lives far away from me.

The organisation might be able to give you some training or leaflets or something to help a talk as well as some official credibility. Maybe your best bet would be asking to go back to your old school as a first step (depending on if you feel comfortable doing that). They'd know you so may be more likely to help you out.

Thats what I was going to do.
They know me, and know I was never a troublesome kid. I always did as I was told at school lol. |
I too would have serious concerns about letting a random young, untrained person come in to raise awareness - if you can investigate local mental health organisations and volunteer your services through there people would probably be far more receptive.
It's a really good thing you want to do, it'd be worth seeing what's available in your area to go through (e.g. Mind etc.) |
