Has anybody had an dreams lately and wondered what the meaning behind is?

I wanted to know what my dream meant last night, and after searching my dream 'suggests that you do not know your limits. You may be pushing yourself too hard. Alternatively, the dream means that you are on a self-destructive path. You need to make some significant changes to your life.'

I actually found it to be quite interesting.

I wondered if anyone would like to share their meaning of their dreams?

It would also be very interesting to see if you agree with the result?

I will try this out in a minute. I actually have a few books for interpreting my dreams and a dream dictionary. I went through a phase where I was obsessed with my dreams because of how insane they are at times lol.


Okay checked it apparently I am having some health problems [true] and my dream also represents my connection to others as well as eludes to romance lol [very true] and I also seem to miss my boyfriend and want to be closer to him [also true].

Well it pretty much was correct which is cool although I highly doubt I will be able to make any sense out of my nightmares.

I love finding out the meanings of my dreams. I had a psychotherapist a few years ago who actually used dream analysis as part of our therapy together. I will report back when I've checked out the site!

It's all a load of guff to me. Probably works in a similar way to astrology, that people read into what they want to and ignore/forget the stuff that they can't relate to.

The subject of dreams is interesting, but all the stuff about meanings is nonsense.

I think dreams can mean something but there cant be a specific guide that works for eveyone, because things have different significance for different people. For instance, that website says dreaming about swimming means that you are exploring your emotions, but whenever my mum gets stressed she dreams about swimming because for her it represents leisure time

I like looking on dream dictionary sites, they're interesting sometimes. Although I think ultimately dreams are too personal to be interpreted with a dictionary.

I dreamt of being in a train station last night, which according to the site in the link above, means I'm at a transitional period of my life. But because I was having to leave my partner in the station and was very upset, I think it's more to do with fear rather than change.

I think the dream was just an expression of some level of fear I have about losing someone special, the train was taking me away from the most important person to me, and I guess on some level I'm worried of losing him. I tend to worry a lot about losing people. So that's how I interpreted my dream :)

Definitely this with certain dreams. Also I think sometimes the dreams are much more obvious than their supposed meanings indicate. Like for example I often dream losing or breaking all my teeth, and when I looked it up somewhere it claimed I was worried about losing control, but personally I think I just get worried about my teeth because I don't look after them very well. :-p This site thinks 'your health and/or business is in jeopardy' which is a bit closer I suppose.

Some dreams I have are definitely more symbolic though. I often dream about flying, like the dream will about something completely unrelated but I'll just happen to be able to fly. This only happens though when my general mood is quite good and I'm in a happy place in my life; if not then either I don't fly at all or I fly but get caught up in power lines/can only get to a certain height above the ground. The stuff it says on that website seems to concur with this correlation.

In the odd occasion I have dreams where I can fly well it's usually when I've been in a good stable calm mood for a prolonged period. But mostly when I try to fly in dreams I can't get off the ground properly and am often trying to escape people/things. Which I guess is symbolic of wanting to flee from my problems or my past and being unable to escape effectively.

You need a Freud...

I read a book about analysing dreams the freud way. I definitely dont believe that version. Everything is not sex.

I think it's a load of ****. Even Freud was deeply disappointed with the direction people took his dream analysis.

Oh but it is. Also, deep down you really wish you had a penis.

I think dreams are quite personal, so reading a book to try to tell you what they mean, although may help, won't exactly give you a personal meaning of your dream. I think they can be good prompts though, to get you to think about what you're dreaming about and why.

Sometimes when I have an odd or disturbing dream once I analyse it when I've woken up I can usually understand why I've dreamt that and it seems less odd and makes more sense. The subconscious can throw out some odd things sometimes by way of dreams.

Studies suggest that dreams are the brain's way of processing information, so they're bound to throw up problems and emotions that we might not consciously realise are troubling us, and like people have said interpreting a dream is quite personal because those problems etc. might be warped by our associations; say the smell of lavender reminds you of your grandmother's house and you dream of lavender or whatever.

Usually my dreams are arse boring. Last night I just dreamt I was at work - no prizes for guessing the meaning of that one!

But every now and then I have this recurring dream about tornadoes. I looked it up a couple of times but none of the explanations really make sense. Maybe it doesn't have a meaning. Maybe I just have a subconscious obsession with tornadoes.

It's like horoscopes in newspapers, can't believe that people actually get paid to basically troll people in real life.

I had horrible reoccurring nightmares when I was small about great white sharks, in different situations but the end was always the same, I'd get eaten eventually. I think that was because I was shown the film 'Jaws' at an early age and it made me really scared of sharks. I'm not scared of them now, and actually quite like 'Jaws' :)

I disagree with you. I don't think you can formulate a 'this subject means this' approach as everybody thinks differently (like the example of swimming mentioned above), and some dreams can be extremely strange and to those I wouldn't try and attach any specific meaning, but some of them are blindingly obvious. I can wake up from a particularly vivid dream and the meaning of it is totally clear and completely fits with some problem or issue that's been on my mind.
That's basically a rambling way of saying that sometimes I do think it works, but you have to think about it yourself in relation to YOUR life. Which is why I would never use a dream 'dictionary' or something similar.

I had a dream last night in which a living person who has been like a mother to me had me cutting up a wooden door into small pieces maybe a few centimetres long and half a centimetre thick. She was coating these wood chips with peanut butter and feeding them to a dog of mine who died about 5 years ago. Oddly, the dog of mine that died last week was nowhere to be seen. Her husband (a father figure to me who has been dead over 10 years) was criticising that I was misusing the circular saw (which I was) in cutting up the door. I have never fed my dogs peanut butter (and nor did either of them), they didn't chew on wood chips and I rarely use power tools. The dogs are both lab x collies. Anyone want to take a stab at the meaning (other than that I'm slightly nuts)? I'll say if a theory makes any sense to me.

Better still, I already have a penis. If you are suggesting I want another one, you are right - but I don't want it on me, I want it on a partner...
