anyone watch ch4 penny pinching
Eating roadkill is just eww, i mean everyone likes to save and get a good bargain but i draw the line at driving around to find dead animals to eat so i don't buy meat from a shop.
|
I haven't seen the show, but yes, I agree. While I see how leaving roadkill might be seen as a waste, I thought it's part of civilized society's unwritten rules that you don't tough that kind of thing.
Although on the other hand, I can't give you a good rational reason why it's wrong. Hmm. |
Nothing wrong with eating it, it's better to be eaten then go to waste...But saying that i wouldn't eat it myself but i don't see anything wrong with it as long as the meat is still good.
|
He ate seagulls, wood pigeons, rabbits, squirrels which all met a grizzle end. I think its more the fact its something that got hit by a car and you have no idea about the bacteria and stuff thats been left on the body, or how it died and all that, and of course having to clean and cook them.
But the other people on it where mad as well, some people take saving money to a new extreme. |
Oh man! I was going to watch that. Has it finished?
|
Ewww that is disgusting more than normal people eating meat( am veggie )
I didn't see all of the program just caught the end of it |
Nevermind - found it on 4od. Going to watch it now.

You don't know what pathogens could be present in those animals.
Meat you get from shops is vastly less likely to contain transmissible diseases. You could be infected with rabies, CJD, etc if you eat roadkill. |
Surely the petrol needed to drive around looking for this would cost more than just buying cheap cuts of meat from a butcher or a supermarket? Or if they are that tight they should cut meat out of their diet either entirely or at least severely limit it.
I never saw the programme, but I saw a trailer and, yes, these people were taking things too far in the search for a few pennies saved. |
Least it would be ready tenderised!
My uncle used to do that with rabbits. You know as much about their state as ahooting a rabbit yourself. Although you don't know hoe long it's been there and also whether the guts have contaminated the meat. Saying that I'd never do it as the thought makes my stomach queasy. |
ah yes the man who was getting excited over half price butter O_o
|
While I can't see myself eating roadkill, I like the idea of 'freeganism'. Shame it's illegal, really.
|
I was watching that and thought the guy who took his wife for a £7.99 Pizza hut for their anniversary was a bit extreme...

Also, everyone is saying about it going to waste, but it doesn't. Scavanger animals will eat it. Humans are not the only mammals to eat meat. Tbh, I found it a bit gross, mainly to do with what bacteria might be lurking in them, but mainly I found it a bit contradictory that he spends money driving around to save money. Also, the woman with the 2 lads was a selfish ass. She hosted a charity lunch, ate it herself and then took out money for the ingredients. Errrr. If it's for charity, doesn't that suggest you can spare £15 for the cause? If I make cakes for a bake sale I'd never dream of taking money out of the proceeds for my expenditure. I dunno. It's all a bit weird. And also, where on earth did she get all those coupons?? I never got coupons in England! |
The woman that had the two boys seemed to almost have a medical issue with the extent she seemed to need to go to save money. i.e cycling all over the place to make sure she could find stores that stocked the things she had coupons to free of. And saying that if something was free she'd have it, even if she didn't like it. Just because it was free.
Also she laughed every time she made a saving or talked about it, in such a way that made her seem like it gave her a weird kick or something. Unfair though, especially on her kids who explained how much they disliked the free food she was packing the fridge full of. Like the microwave burgers etc. Must make the kids feel a bit unworthy. |

Ha ha but the fact he was saying yes we wouldn't have went without the voucher.
But yeah that woman was annoying, i mean i dont know how she gets away with it - most vouchers come with a "cannot be used in conjunction with any other vouchers", i guess she shoves so many in the cashiers face that they dont have a choice but to take them all. And the charity thing, i get she raises so much money, but they fact she gloated about not having paid for her lunch and took the £15 out when she could have contributed that. |

Ha ha he went round the supermarket with his smart phone scanning everything he was buying to make sure if it was the cheapest, if not he would go to the cheapest place the next day - and before he went out they scoured the net looking for the cheapest place to shop.
So much effort lol. |
