Internal shaking?????

I've had this before, but now its been worse and alot more frequent!
Basically, i feel like im shaking in like my arms and my legs..... but im not physically shaking? if that makes any sense.... basically no one else notices it! I just wanted to know if this is like normal? Its really weird! It gets worse when im just laying in bed, i dunno if its just i notice it more or what but yeah!

Thanks for any replies :)

I think I might have a similar thing - I dunno if this is what you mean - it's like a creeping feeling all over my back and shoulders usually - its really irritating.

slurpslurp 13-08-2011 06:27 PM

yeah it sounds sorta simillar antubis!

sherlock holmes 13-08-2011 06:54 PM

I think I get something similar. It kinda feels also a bit like my muscles are fizzing or vibrating, and I get it in my arms and legs. No idea what it is though.

Dreamergirl 13-08-2011 07:11 PM

does it come and go? like a muscle spasm?

slurpslurp 13-08-2011 09:57 PM

i dont think its a musle spasms, like it will last like 30 minutes.... its like you can feel your vein shaking! i dont know how to properly describe it im sorry :(

Sounds to me like you might be a little hypoglycemic? Make sure you're eating enough, and also that it's well balanced! If you don't think your diet is balanced enough, take some multivitamins. Next time you get the shakes, eat some chocolate and see if that helps. If it does, it might be worth going to the doctors and taking a diabetes test (/highly/ unlikely, but if eating chocolate makes the shakes go away then that means they are caused by hypoglycemia, which /could/ be the result of diabetes - worth getting checked out =) )

Are you on any medication?

Jetforce 14-08-2011 10:21 AM

A few general questions
1/ been eating well and not skipping meals? Did you eat like alot of confectionery before hand? Any problems with eating previously?
2/started on new medications? On any antipsychotics currently?
3/What was your doing before hand to trigger off these "shaking"?
4/ Do you feel like restless internally, ie you have to move your arms and legs?

Animad 14-08-2011 11:52 AM

I was going to ask the same as Jetforce but ask if you are on any meds at all regardless of how long you've been on them, though I'd also like to know which meds and how long approx you've been on these and how long's the shaking been going on. Also, does anything seem to make it better/ worse? Is there any pattern in it?

It doesn't really sound like Hypoglycaemia. This would make your body visibly shake and you'd also feel really quite weak. Also, diabetes when untreated is going to cause hyper glycaemia (high blood glucose) rather than hypo (low). If you are diabetic though and take too much insulin then this can cause hypo as can other things.

Are you diabetic and if so is this being checked by a doctor/ nurse on a relatively regular basis? Also, are you checking your blood sugars as told instructed and using the insulin as you are supposed to?

Another thing I'm wondering is do you have any other health problems/ signs that maybe something isn't right? Are you able to walk and move around normally when this occurs? Finally does it cause any pain?

slurpslurp 14-08-2011 02:06 PM

wow thanks for all the replies! sorry im replying late, i only just woke up!
Okay so, im not on any meds, never taken any in my life......
Ummm, before i've gone days without eating but recently my brothers been home so i have to eat lunch and dinner! :(
I wasnt really doing anything before hand, like i could just be sat down thinking, but then also when i was outside taking down my trampoline i also got it!
Yes, i feel restless internally.
No, im not diabetic, well i havent been told i have it anyway.
The only other health problems im having is my shoulder and knee really hurt (both riight side, not left) . I can walk around, but it feels weird! And it doesnt cause pain, its just annoying and its really weird when it suddenly starts!

Thanks!

How long had you been skipping meals/ restricting beforehand and then going back to having meals again and are you eating all of these or purging? It may be that because your body is not used to getting much in the way of food it is now storing the energy up for the next time it doesn't get any rather than actally using it which can case problems such as this.

It may also be that you've got a problem that usually comes with certain psych meds and that you feel like you need to move your arms/ legs a good proportion of the time and this can worsen at night.

I take it it's the whole of your body too and you've not got a fever or feeling cold? If it's just one area or say a leg (or even both) or something thn it may be there's something such as a nerve that's trapped and causing these types of sensations.

slurpslurp 15-08-2011 01:38 PM

Umm it was only about a week of not eating, then ive had to go back to eating....but no there was no purging i dont have an eating disorder or anything.
Yeah its only really my arms and my legs, so maybe i do have a trapped nerve! if carrys on bothering me i will just go and ask my doctor :) thanks for the replyy!!

Animad 16-08-2011 09:18 PM

If it's both your arms and your legs I wouldn't think it would be a trapped nerve. One leg then possibly, even 2 but all 4 limbs doesn't fit.

Are you actually eating properly or just the meals that your brother is there watching you eat? As it may be that, that even though you're eating it may not be enough and that added to you having a week where you've not really eaten does make me wonder though it could be a large number of things. I would definitely say if it continues then see a doctor.

Also, I would talk to someone about your eating as by the sounds of it, if you had the choice you wouldn't eat which isn't healthy even if it's not going on for long and could be the start of developing an ED or similar so it would be worth talking this through with someone and trying to sort out the reasons before that before it worsens (it may not but just the way it's written here rings alarm bells).

slurpslurp 16-08-2011 10:41 PM

Well it hasnt done it today :/ so lets hope it doesnt happen again :)
Yeah i would rather not eat, but my family would notice somethings wrong and they dont know about my depression and self harm and i dont want them to suspect!! I dont think its the start of an ED, like i dont purge or anything, i just dont see the point in eating when im not hungry :L

RhapsodyInBlue 18-08-2011 04:22 PM

Just to let you know I get this when I have too much caffeine!

slurpslurp 18-08-2011 08:41 PM

Hmm, i drink alot of diet coke! but surely the fact its diet means it doesnt have caffeine?

RhapsodyInBlue 18-08-2011 09:14 PM

I think diet coke has less sugar, but still has caffeine? I'm not sure.

slurpslurp 18-08-2011 10:06 PM

oh, well i will try drinking less ( although i think im addicted :L ) and see if that helps! thanks :)

Animad 19-08-2011 11:14 AM

Diet coke indeed means it has no sugar in it, just sweetners. It still has the same level of caffiene. If you do drink quite a bit of caffiene from this/ coffee/ tea (which doesn't have as much in but still has some)/ eat quite a bit of chocolate/ heavily caffienated energy drinks then this most definitely could be the reason. If you're susceptible to caffiene it also doesn't have to be that much. I'd say just gradually reduce how much you take in if it is a lot (don't suddenly stop as then you'll get headaches) until you're not drinking as much.

If you're anxious all the time this may also be the cause as adrenaline can also cause this.
