Thinking of finally finding help
Lately things have just absolutely spiraled out of control and gotten a lot worse. I scare myself a lot, and even though the idea of therapy scares me even more in some ways, I'm heavily considering it. I'm just so afraid of finding out there's something honestly wrong with me. I'm worried about having no support...I cant help but think that whoever I am a patient to doesnt need to spend time on me, and I feel guilty that I'd be taking up their time (and in turn, some other patient's...) I'm afraid of telling them what's in my head and freaking them out.
Do ya'll have any advice on how to get over this horrible anxiety? |
I don't really have an awful lot to say but i glad youre definatly considering it. I know what its like, i get what youre feeling, and i still do feel like taht, but somehow i managed to sum up the courage to ask for help and i really hope you can find that strength too (:

just take it step by step, you wont be wasting anybodys time; i promise. is there someone you could talk with you who you trust or even someone just to take you and wait outside for you? remember these people are professionally trained and they definately wont freak out, they may have seen or heard similar things before. best of luck.

i didn't seek help until lately and it was one of the stupidest ideas not too because no im so bad most people worry about me on a daily basis. Seek help, if there is nothing wrong with you and its a passing phase you'll have that reasurance, if you do have something not right then you'll have the help needed to treat it

Don't feel guilty about taking up their time - that's what they're there for!
I'm glad you're considering getting the help and support you seem to need at the moment, I hope it goes well. xxx |
You're not alone in what you're feeling. I went through the exact same thought processes before I finally received psychiatric help. Don't ever feel like you're taking time away from other patients, because you always get appointments of when the therapist is free, and not due to see another patient. I've spoken to all my previous counsellors (yes, I have quite a few), and they have all told me that they enjoy helping other people get through all the dips in life, and it's what their job is. If they didn't want to help people, then they wouldn't be going into that career in the first place. I didn't seek out help until it was almost too late, and I can now see how badly it affected my friends and family. Because your pain is always their pain, no matter how hard to try to hide it. Don't leave it too late. There will always be someone there to help you through everything :)

Oh my gosh, thank ya'll so freaking much...it's so reassuring to hear that I am not alone in my feelings and thoughts...I am very ready to learn how to deal with myself in a healthy way. I'm tired of being sick haha.
The only friend I have that would be able to wait for me after my initial consultation wouldn't do it; she doesnt believe these mental anguishes are real...so...she isnt really a good support haha. But that's okay, I feel like I can do this. Ya'll are all beyond amazing. Thank you so much for making me feel real... |
