my family are away....ive done nothing but to call them and let them know how i feel....i felt that they wanted me off the phone as soon as possible...didnt want to listen to me, just wanted to get their standard answer in first..i now know why its taken me 7 years to pluck up the courage to call them....just wanted to know what they would do if it wasnt just im scared type of call anymore....i havent dont anything and will probably go to bed. I just want to know how they actually help because i rang for help and am no better off....if not worse off because i am left in the same situation without the hope of help....maybe they misunderstood me...i dont know...but i tried...right? will my request for help be recorded?

Hi there *hugs*. I'm sorry to hear you are feeling so distressed right now, you did the right thing calling the Crisis team, I'm sorry they were not more helpful. If you still feel unsafe being alone tonight, you can always go to A&E and ask to speak to psych department.

Please take care of yourself

xx

hi there
*hugs*
I'm sorry you're feeling so low right now.
I have only called the crisis team once and I have to admit, it felt like they wanted me off the phone.
But, they called the police and ambulance on me because of what I'd done/planning to do.
If you feel really unsafe you can call an ambulance or get in contact with crisis again.
I know this probably doesn't make any sense but I wanted you to know I'm thinking of you.

I'm sorry that you're struggling, but to just answer your question, if you tell the Crisis Team you've taken an overdose, then they will be duty-bound by law to send an Ambulance out to you. For self-harm, no, unless it's life threatening (i.e. if you've cut an artery).

Also, depending on regional policy (I think) they will send the police too, but usually only to be cautious because people who have taken overdoses may be resistant.

Don't let this put you off asking for help, though, that's what they're all there for. x

If you tell them about something that needs an ambulance they will send out one. If you tell them you have self harmed [cutting/burning] they will ask more questions and then decide if they call an ambulance or just insist you go to a and e.

Why do you ask?

If you have OD'd call the ambulance yourself.

Im so so sorry...Ive just only seen this. In all honesty I dont even remember making this thread, so im so sorry for worrying people. In the end i did need to call nhs direct and they sent an ambulance.
