Hi. I'm appalled at the way you have been treated.(ie. You should have been kept in hospital as you are a danger to yourself at the moment. And the remark made by the crisis team member is plain wrong in so many ways.)

I'm sorry but I can't help you with the voices aspect, hopefully someone else can.

About the diagnosis - it's really something you ought to ask the person who diagnosed you. But my guess would be that the bipolar explains your depression and hearing voices, and the personality disorder has been diagnosed largely because of the extent of your self-harm. I've noticed they tend to describe patients as "complex" when they can't find a treatment that works for them (yet). I wouldn't take too much notice of that bit!

Try to hold on to the fact that before this patch you were fairly stable for several years. It means you will be able to get back to feeling that way.

I am sorry you have gone through so much. Crisis Teams can be useless sometimes, and I am sorry you got the bad batch, so to speak.

Do try to remember that diagnosis are mostly a means for the medical professionals to sign post what treatment you should receive. As said above "complex" tends to mean some of the normal treatments are not as succesfull and to flag up to them that more care is needed. Hopefully, you and your CPN/Psych can find a medicine and treatment regime that works for you.

If you are ever in any doubt of reasons or meanings behind DXs though, it is always worth asking how they reached that DX and what they intend to do with it as a treatment pathway.
