"obsessional thinking and behaviour"

Hello, this is my first post on the MH board :waving:

So I was sorting out some paperwork this morning and I was reading my appointment summary for a psych appointment I had in April. She wrote that my previous psychiatrist (I moved MHS at christmas) said that I had "obsessional thinking and behaviour" with regards to SI and suicidal thoughts. Now I just though I had these repetitive, uncontrollable thoughts due to depression. This doesn't mean OCD does it? If not, then what does it mean? Its just a bit confusing and it seems silly to contact her now to ask for more information when I only had one assessment with her and haven't seen her since. Can anyone clear this up for me? I know its pointless to worry about it but I really don't want another label to be applied to me.

No, it doesn't mean OCD. Obsessive Compulsive Disorder is an anxiety disorder including both intrusive thoughts AND behaviours. But you can have obsessive thoughts regarding something without having OCD or OC personality disorder.

Have a chat with your pysch about what it means for you and your treatment.
