They keep opening *SI*
Sorry for posting, but I have a question that I kinda need answered..
A couple of days ago I cut quite a lot, they weren't bad enough for A&E so I didn't go but I treated them at home. I got home from hospital a few hours ago (Another issue and I didn't mention the cuts) and they won't stay closed. I would steri-strip them but a lot of them overlap in all directions. I'm going to visit my Grandparents for a week tomorrow and I really don't want to have to worry about them too much while I am there.. Any tips for keeping them closed..? Please and thank-you. |
duct tape but be careful when you pull it off. not sanitary but it does the trick and the glue off the tape sometimes helps them shut. but...now that i think about it maybe this isn't so good to recommend for others.

Skin glue? Here in the US, you can get kind of liquid bandaid or stuff called nuSkin that works pretty well. Best of luck.
And don't use duct tape. That's a good way to rip them open and/or trap infection. |

What you could try is getting one of those weird kit things that comes with steri strips and a weird plaster thing to stick over them that is see through. Having a plaster over steri's seems to make them hold better. Or you could just try and tape them down at the ends. (Like right away from the wound) |
It don't matter if steri-strips criss cross, just be careful when your wounds are healed and you take them off.
Literally simple as that. |
DON'T use Duct Tape. That will do nothing except damage the surrounding skin and pull any wound that's healing apart and it won't heal properly anyway because of the natur of the tape.
Also, it is too late to close the wounds now, any later then 24hrs (and once you've cleaned them well) is too late unless they've been applied by a medical professional. If you're wanting to know more about closing a wound then I'd advise you to read this article. |
