I want this scar gone :(
 

I've cut a lot of words into my stomach but they're somewhat faded and will probably be gone in a couple years. However about a month ago I cut the word "die" into my upper thigh. I cut it really deep and it's still bring red and fresh looking. I'm fearing it will be a permanent scar. Is there any way at all that I can get rid of it, even if it means replacing it with a different scar? If I burned myself there would it get rid of the word? Any advice at all?

trust me, I can sympathise with this. I have a couple words that I'd rather get rid of now, but that's not the way it goes.

First things first though. I wouldn't recommend burning over it or anything like that. Apart from it being dangerous, it really doesn't work. I tried that back in the day and ended up with a still visible word and mangled skin around it, which just draws more attention to it.

While I realise it's not nice to have it there.. just give it time. It might become a permanent scar or not, but either way it'll fade and become less noticeable over time. It *will* most likely get to the point where you'll only see it because you know it's there. And then to the point where you'd have to look for it to find it again.

Just make sure to care for the wounds as best as possible, if it hasn't all healed up yet. Good wound care reduces scarring. Once it's completely healed, I'd say it's a good idea to keep the scars moisturised, and to use scar reduction salves and stuff of the sort to speed up the fading process.

Unfortunately these are just things we'll have to live with. It IS possible to get to the point where you just barely think of it anymore. Do you have any support in real life at all?

Bio oil works wonders on scars. I'd recommend that.

Burn scars are horrible, they last a lot longer than cutting scars, and they look a lot worse. Please don't burn over it? It will look horrible, it really will.

Anyway, bio oil is amazing, but it can be expensive. You can get a lot of different types of scar reducers from pharmacies, but bio oil is the best in my opinion.

DON'T burn over.Trust me.Been there,done that.The burning scars are simply horrible,even worse than cutting scars.I made some burning scars 2 YEARS ago and they are still red and look like they've been made one week ago.
I wrote failure on my arm,in a very noticeable place.But I gave it time and it fade away.I advise you to do the same.Cover the place so no one can see you and even when you get dressed,try not to look at that world.It will make you feel ten times worse.Again,been there,done that.

My dad is having me use Mederma right now to get rid of some scars. It's supposed to work pretty well from what I hear...
I agree that you shouldn't burn yourself to try and get rid of it :/ I haven't tried, but, I don't think it's so good that you should harm yourself more to get rid of a something.

I'd do anything to get rid of it. I can't not look at the words. I'm thinking about shaving off a layer of skin everywhere I put a word. Even if that would leave a bigger scar it beats looking at the words die, fat, bitch, and pig every day.

I'm in therapy for my eating disorder but nobody knows I've ever cut. I put a lot of effort into hiding it.
