Mirtazapine weirdness
Okay so the meds over thelast few days have been knocking me unconscious almost, sleeping 18hrs a day and very tired. Today first day back at work and I am so hyperactive! I am siting at my desk twitching with energy and I have to keep getting up and walking around I wasmarching on the spot a few minutes ago my whole body is buzzing this is really weird.
Doesanyone else get this with mirt and should I be worried since the last few days its been making me sleep rather than giving me energy |
Hey,
I've been getting the sleepeness, this is apparently a normal side effect (it is a sedative) and should wear off after a week or so. |
I know the sleepiness is normal what is worrying me is I am suddenly the opposite - I am really hyper and energetic and unable to concentrate, I'm twitching and I cant focus. Im worried because the pills made me sleepy and now this which is so differet
|
I had that when I first started it, I had a couple of days of mania which were really odd, but they seem to have gone now.
|
When I first started on Mirtazapine (I taake it before I go to bed) I would after an hour or so start getting like a rush of energy through my legs and would have to move them 'til it passed. Was like a v high state of agitation. Could be worth mentioning to the prescriber but it did pass for me.

I would suggest you see your doctor to check if this is a "normal" side effect, or a sign you might be experiencing serotonin syndrome or something (which can be very dangerous).

I agree with that too, it's worth getting it checked out with your Doctor/Psychiatrist, whoever prescribed it to you. I'm on Mirtazapine and have been on it for over a year, I experienced the sleepiness and slept a lot for the first month or so. I've had it increased twice and both times adjusting to the new dose has made me more sleepy but I've not experienced any sort of manic/hyperactive side effects.

I'm on Mirtazapine for the fact it helps my brain turn off at night and helps me get to sleep the only problem I find I have had is sometimes my legs tingle and go numb so I have to move them! But like a few have said here its a common side effect so I'm not too worried as it doesn't happen often anymore.
I wish it made me hyperactive, would really help me exercise lol but seriously its probably best to take it up with your doctor if it is concerning you. |
I get restless leg from stupid mirtazapine grrr...
I got intense sleepiness for about a week, but after that I was fine. It can different for different people, so if you get too worried, contact your prescriber :) xxx |
Sorry if I alarmed you.
If the restless leg syndrome is severe, I believe there are treatments for it, but I'm not sure if they're completely effective or lacking in side-effects. |
hey guys, sorry I've not been on in a while. Thanks for the feedback - I'm much more accustomed to these now, for all the crazy side effects!
|
My side effects have finally started to wear off now too!
|
I'm glad your side-effects are wearing off :)
I've been on olanzapine for a year and a half now and I only get a little bit of tiredness and my appetite is good (it used to be crap). However I am a healthy weight and I sleep 7 hours a night so I suppose its good. I'm here if you need advice about side-effects. |
