Black Swan

I just got home from seeing this movie. Anyone else seen it yet? I thought it was great, even though it made me squirm a lot! I anticipated a lame movie about ballet dancers, but was pleasantly surprised by all the darkness and insanity. Definitely recommend it!

Definitely a movie worth seeing. It was really powerful to me, the acting
was phenomenal. Very disturbing and beautiful at the same time.

Just saw the trailer and really want to see it.

makedamnsure 08-01-2011 11:03 PM

I don't think its out in the UK yet, but I've heard good things about it and definately want to see it.

nowhereman 09-01-2011 06:37 AM

I saw it today too! I love dancing so I liked it.

muzzii 12-01-2011 01:35 AM

I really want to see it, I've hear a few things about it and it sounds really good!

monket 12-01-2011 07:48 AM

I didn't know it was Darren Aronofsky directing until I looked it up afterwards. That explains it being awesome, lol.

I really want to see this too! For anybody who's seen it, does it have a lot of ED-related stuff in it?

makedamnsure 12-01-2011 07:59 PM

Apparently the first scene is pretty hardcore (SH and ED themes)
I do know that bulimia is a part of the storyline.
But I haven't seen it yet so I don't really know.

beautiful_seclusion 13-01-2011 01:30 AM

I saw it and loved it. It was very odd, but good. I don't think there was that much ED triggers in it, unless I'm forgetting something? A few hints at anorexia but I don't recall any bulimia references. Although I do forget things in movies so I could be wrong. It mostly deals with psychosis and self harm, but the self harm isn't really the stereotypical type of self harm. It was very symbolic which I liked, and Natalie Portman deserves at least a nomination for best actress.

monket 13-01-2011 08:14 AM

Yeah, there was a few ED (bulimia) parts, but that wasn't the focus really. Like beautiful seclustion said, it's more about the process of the character losing her mind.

risenfromperdition 13-01-2011 08:15 AM

i reaaaaally wanna see it >.<
who wants to give me money =[

I think it looks awesome and really want to see it!

Solstice 16-01-2011 03:38 AM

Just watched it online and I was a bit disappointed with the ending but the rest was great!

Pretty good film. A little slow and at times rather predictable but worth a watch nevertheless.

Ileana 16-01-2011 07:13 PM

I'm dying to see this movie. I think I'll finally see it this week, had been waiting for a friend who also wants to see it.

Gonny 16-01-2011 10:35 PM

I saw this movie an LOVED it. As a former ballet dancer, it reminded me of why I quit. Although, it kind of made me want to start again. I will say, I found it a bit triggering for SI. I swear, though, if I'd continued dancing, it could have been written about me.

Hobbes 19-01-2011 02:50 PM

I really wanna see this! Not sure about the SH references though and how triggering it would be? To anyone whose seen it, how much does it involve SH? Are there specific scenes involving SH? Thanks :)

crazykat 19-01-2011 02:53 PM

I want to see this too, hopefully it comes out here
