stupid moodswings

I don't know if there's something wrong with me..
I'm kinda getting the feeling I might have mild bipolar or something, but it might be dismissed as 'teenage moodswings'.

I know the obvious answer would be to see a doctor, but of course he'd have to ask me questions about my moods and such, and I dunno what would be classed as 'abnormal'.

Like..
I feel amazingly happy, with some signs of mania at times.. and crappy, with signs of depression at other times.
Doesn't every teenager?

Plus, I think I read somewhere that these moodswings have to last for 2 weeks or more?
My moods change in minutes.
Mainly when I'm listening to music..

Therefore, that explains it all, music affects everyone's moods and I'm just being stupid thinking I have bipolar.

Right?

It almost sounds like you could have Cyclothymia... I learned about this last year in one of my classes... but I will give you the web definition..

Cyclothymia, also known as cyclothymic disorder, is a milder form of bipolar disorder. Like bipolar disorder, cyclothymia consists of cyclical mood swings. However, the highs and lows are not severe enough to qualify as either mania or major depression. To be diagnosed with cyclothymia, you must experience numerous periods of hypomania and mild depression over at least a two-year time span. Because people with cyclothymia are at an increased risk of developing full-blown bipolar disorder, it is a condition that should be taken seriously and treated.

The only thing is I dont know how long you have experiencedn the symptoms that you are describing. I think when they say for more then two weeks they are refering to the mood swings themselves, now the period of time the moodswings last. If they have been like this for you for awhile, then there could definitely be something wrong, not just because you are a teenager. If you think that it is the music that you are listening to, then do you think you could change some things arou nd in yourself and see if these symptoms lighten up? That way you will know a lttle better.

I hope that you start feeling better hunny. If this all persists I highly recommend seeing a doctor. The sooner the treatment, the better.

Take care of yourself

I wasnt sure if i had "teenage moodswings" and it turned out to be bipolar. What if you dont listen to music?
My "episodes" last a few weeks to a few months, nto minutes, so im not sure really.
Are you on any hormonal contraceptives? Do they impare your normal functioning? Cos i think thats what defines bipolar from normal moodswings.
see your doctor if you are worried? xxx

Well I noticed when I got older my moodswings were less severe, they're still there tho but then again I got the label bipolar stuck on me anyway.
