Schizophrenia
 

First I found out through my mum that I had schizophrenia, then I red in a report that I had Schizoaffective disorder. Then just recently I found out through a letter that I have paranoid schizophrenia.

OMG will people just be straight with me.

I don't wan it though :(

Anyone else got it/disgnosed?

i have it, its not so bad just means you meet a certain set of diagnostic criteria *hugs*

Diagnosis can be really difficult to cope with, but remember that it doesn't change who you are it only adds a definition to some of the things that you do. Has anyone explained to you why you have been diagnosed with this? It sounds as if people are expecting you to find out indirectly, and that's not right. I was diagnosed with it, although it was a misdiagnosis, but I know how scary it can be to be diagnosed with such a stigmatised illness. My latest report said something like 'although she exhibits all symptoms of schizophrenia longitudinal assessment shows she has no signs of psychosis.' My schizophrenia symptoms are now classed under quasi-psychotic phenomena, and will probably end up under the Borderline lable, or that where it looks like it's going.

Basically, what I'm trying to say is no I don't have schizophrenia, but I do have all the symptoms, hearing voices, seeing things etc, and I know what it's like, so if you want to talk to someone about it, even though I'm not entirely the same, my pm box and msn is always open to you.

I think with getting a straight diagnosis you should write to them asking for them to state your diagnosis, get like an official letter type thing from them.

Remember, this diagnosis does not mean you've suddenly turned into a schizophrenic. You're still the same Alyssa. All it means is that they've given part of you a name. It's not all of you.

If you disagree with the diagnosis you are entitled to a second opinion.
