new med

Hi , this is my first post so just a bit of info about me. My wife left me just over a year a go after being together for 30 years , i have two sons 20/17 . So its been the worst year of my life , will go into more detail another time . When she left i ended up with anxiety + panic attacks found it very hard to cope. Was put on meds within a week i tried to kill my self ended up in hospital for a week . I'm still working but i have depression ,its like i have two sides to me. happy go lucky at work but as soon as i leave work my head just explodes. I am seeing the crisis team and a mental health nurse , have tried another med which ended bad within a week,Have just started to cut and i have no idea why , crisis team have sat down in front of me and said they agree that sooner or later i will kill my self . sorry will stop now and finish this later very tired .

Welcome. Im sorry for whats happened. Its not easy suddenly finding yourself harming. The crisis team can be odd at times. Unbelievably unprofessional at others and really nice too. I get angry when they say things like this. Its simply not helpful. however they are good to have on board and it important you are as honest and open as you can be. They can keep you safe if you are at risk.

Cutting at a late age is not uncommon but its less common and so its hard to find others of a similar age that do it. You have found the right place here. Theres a few oldies around.

I would urge you with all my heart to get help with the harming. Nip it in the but asap. It can and will ruin your life. In the fits of depression you may feel there is no life worth living and so who cares, but trust me it will be one of your biggest regrets.

You can and will get through this. Many have suffered the same and they survived. You can too.
