Antidepressants

My doctor had put me on citliopram and they made me worse, snappy, didnt care how i spoke to people and then i didnt want to speak to people.

i went back to the gp and he has now changed them to matazapine, ive only been taking them 3 days. ( my 3rd day today)

I just dont see a light at the end of the tunnel.
Im constantly worrying about work and what they will think. I know that a few of the people there bitch about anything, so i highly doubt they havent said anything about me being off. I just seem really worried about what everyone else is thinking, rather than concentrating on me and getting better.

Sorry to rant but, i feel if i tell anyone about how i feel. It will be a case of them saying youre being silly. who cares what they think? erm............me! i care! i care too much. i am constantly people pleasing and i dont think ill ever stop.

Will these tablets work anytime soon? because i feel ****!

Thanks.

i'm not familiar with those meds, but the other ones i know generally take a bit of time so you may have to be patient

Give them meds a few weeks to kick in, it doesn't kick in straight away like other meds for other physical conditions. But yeah, if u feel like u ain't coping well enough, go back and see your doc and ask for more support services, like the crisis community team?

Some people respond almost immediately to antidepressants, but others may not notice any difference for up to a month after they start taking them, or six weeks for fluoxetine (Prozac). However, you may not feel the full benefits for a few months, and you may need a higher dose. If there's still no response after about six to eight weeks, that's when it's time to try a different drug. Increasing the dose doesn't do much if you've got no initial response at all, it's used for if you only have a limited response. All antidepressants carry an increased risk of suicide, so if you're struggling to cope it is very important that you tell your psychiatrist. It is usually a good idea to have the number of a crisis team who you can call in an emergency.

Also, remember that antidepressants aren't a magic cure. It usually takes months or even years of treatment to reach some sort of stability where you can get back to your life as it was before you became ill. And non-drug treatments are just as important for people who take medication as they are for those who don't. If you're depressed enough to be on medication at all, you REALLY need to be seeing both a psychiatrist and a therapist. I would tell your doctor you need a referral to a community mental health team (or CAMHS depending on your age.)

Take care.

i've been on both & out of the woo mirtazapine works wonders for me.
took ages for it to kick in properly though & i had some bizarre mood swings. and even more bizarre dreams.

I'm on Mirtazapene as well and I was told when I started on them I became a right bitch
They do take a while to kick in and from experience anyway, it'll get worse before it gets better
I'd give it a few more weeks and if you don't feel they've worked then go back to the doctor and maybe ask if they can sort you something else out
My PM box is open if you ever wanna chat
