surgery and job issues

my back surgery has been rescheduled for july 13th. i'm apprehensive, but will be glad to have it over with and get on with my life.

i'm worried about how i will handle life after i recover. i need to find a job and get back to the "real" world. the job market here sucks so i will probably end up taking a job that is waaaay below my potential just to have an income. (i am half way through a master's degree, but all that seems available is entry level stuff). i find this demeaning because i have worked so hard and done everything right but i still get passed over for the work i can and want to do......

then there is just the having to get up and do something every day. i've always found it completely exhausting even when i had a job that i loved. it seems that other people work 8 or 10 hours and come home and then go out and socialize/work in the yard/clean the house, etc. i come home and collapse from exhaustion. does anyone have any idea why this is and what i can do about it?

thank you for any suggestions you may have.

I wish you luck on your surgery!

I know what you mean. When I came out of college, the economy had just collapsed, so I was using my Comm/English degree to sell electrical supplies at Home Depot for over a year. I suppose the best advice that I can give is to take what you can get for the moment, but don't stop looking! Something WILL turn up!

As far as after work activities, I'm not really the best person to advise about that. I work midnights, so coming straight home and collapsing in bed /on the couch / on the living room floor is pretty much what I do every morning.

I'll be thinking of you on surgery day, and I'm sending you speedy healing thoughts!
