Unlucky :( I hope you get things sorted ASAP.

My weekend's not going to badly. Went for a BBQ at my parents yesterday and haven't been up long yet today XD

you must have had really easily guessed passowords and secret answers, youd be suprised how easy it is to hack someone because they use predicatble passowords, once you get it back i suggest you look at how to get securer passwords.

happiness_escapes_me 16-05-2010 02:53 PM

um i dont actually my friend who incidently is a hacker himself set my passwords for me, i trust him alot and have known him for nearly 20 years, if your wondering why id let someone know my passwords. what happened was this person, who wasnt even on my msn msger list, popped up and started saying if i didnt do on cam my facebook would be changed, well obviously i wouldnt go on cam and they logged me out of facebook....have no clue how. then said if i go on cam i get facebook password if not then my hotmail will be changed to. as you can probably guess i didnt play his stupid games.

so sorry if thats come across as a bit harsh but as you can probably guess im very pissed off at the moment and for someone to tell me its my fault.....well pushes me a bit too far.

hotmail is super easy to hack if you know someone. it's quite funny to hack it and leave them an email saying 'ohhi, iwas here' :P

BunnythesAINT 16-05-2010 04:35 PM

Aw sorry that happened, man. My friend did that once as a "joke" but eventually I got it under control, hope things work out. My weekends been really blah and just gray.

Katiee 16-05-2010 05:06 PM

Oh nooo ):
I hope you get it sorted.

My weekend has been sorta blah, but yeah.

Jack Frost 16-05-2010 06:22 PM

Solution. Hack it yourself? Or have your mate do it

Anything can get hacked, some are harder than others.

yes and no. I doubt your person did a true crack of her hotmail account. The answer to post people's secret questions is very easy to guess.

Modern systems lock you out after 5-10 wrong tries. (this is to prevent brute force attacks) lets claim you want to get into a system. You've disabled the lock out system and you did the normal battery of dictionary attacks. The password is a random collection of letters and numbers.

If its password uses only lowercase letters and it is 5 characters long there would be about 7.9*10^6 different combinations. If you add in uppercase letters the number of passwords jumps to 3.11*10^8. With numbers its at 7.7*10^6 and with 30 special characters it jumps to 5.9*10^9 .

As you can see passwords should be random and use all types of characters.

i have a lot of sympathy sweetie, this happened to me a few months ago-i cried lots. i had so many lovely emails from when i was on sick leave and they all went-should learn to save things i know!
and my password was a made up word with upper case and numbers in.....if they wana get in they will!!

and hotmail are w@nkers about it, i wrote god knows how many reports/enquiries and they never got back to me and never got my emails back etc!

I found a cool way to generate random passwords

http://www.dave-reed.com/Nifty/randSeq.html

Number of random letter sequences to generate put in 50
Length of each random letter sequence put in how many characters long you want your password to be.
Letters to choose from: use abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyzABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWX YZ1234567890-=!@#$%^&*()_+\|`~,./?><;'::"[]{}

and you pick your favorite one.

EDIT: Also this is a cool tool to check password strength

If only I could remember my password for my old computer... my brother keeps trying to use it now, but can't do anything proper on it as he's not the administrator account... I am. But according to what I've read with Windows, there is no way to reset the administrator password without reinstalling the whole system.

Sorry you got hacked... that sucks a lot. I hope you have different passwords for everything else.

Do you have another account on the system or is it just that one?
