nothing is working

i have tried so many different meds and nothing is working. the doctor keeps saying he thinks we're getting closer but nothing has improved. i feel like i am losing strength to keep pushing. the depression just keeps getting worse. help. i can see myself start turning to bad methods to deal with the pain. even though i know things will just get worse if i add more issues in the mix, i don't know how else to get through this. i feel so apathetic. and empty. i just want all of this to be over. will i never find anything that works???

i have the same problem...meda don't seem to work for me...can i ask why you are taking meds? is there a specific reason why you take them?

i went on them about 5 months ago for depression...they think i was mildly depressed for a few years and then it went unnoticed so escalated into full on severe major depression. also, they think it will help with my impulses associated with EDs and SI.

yes! i love florida. may i ask where you visited??

Please correct me if I am wrong, but you say you started taking meds 5 months ago? This is not very long to have been on medication and you certinaly shouldn't be swapping and changing them without a strong reason.

It may be that the medication you are on is not yet at the dose needed. Often doses are increased gradually with medication, and it can take some time before you begin to find that they are at the right level for you.

I would raise this as a concern with your Dr or Psych and ask them what their plans are going forward so that you know what their thinking is.

*hugs*

I agree with roiben.
5 months really isn't long at all in terms of medication, it can take over a month to notice any changes whatsoever, and longer to adjust the dosage. It most definitely would feel long, but medications need time to work into your system.
In the meantime do you have talk therapy? Because anti-depressants alone are often unhelpful without some kind of therapy along side it.
