Confused

I'm a newbe and sorry to be posting such a negative post. I'm being helped for depression but I wish I could shift these bad thoughts. I can't stop thinking about hurting myself but I don't think I can even pin point why. I can't think of a reason why I'm like this. I have always had low self esteem and struggle with thoughts that I'm useless, a waste of space etc, but I , I don't know what I'm trying to say. I'm so confused. Just wish I could get rid of these bad thoughts. But then I think no it's okay. Being melodramatic. Snap out of it.

Hey :)

Don't worry, we're all accepting here. I can totally relate to how you're feeling...I have the exact same problem. Or I did anyway. I used to feel awful, self-destructive and suicidal for no apparent reason and it made it damn near impossible for anybody to help. But, we're all here for you, and if you ever need anything just shout! Or drop somebody a PM. My box is always open if you just want a chat!

(I'm not good at venturing onto the forums all that often! :P )

hey, I struggle with that too. I think a lot of people here do - part of the problem is we get told so often we're being 'melodramatic' or 'attention seeking' etc etc.

The thing is, you have negative thoughts, and there they are. That doesn't mean there's nothing you can do to minimise them - there are ways. But accepting that they're there is the first step to finding out how to deal with them.

Unfortunately we all have to find our own way to do that! I find seeing a counsellor, taking some meds prescribed by a psychiatrist, and finding things to do that I enjoy have all helped. I'm not floating around in a buble of happiness, but I feel a lot better than I did, and have times when I feel good about myself, which is a step in the right direction.

It can get better! Are you getting any professional help?
