This time WILL be different

Things have been total crap
So the only way is up

I made the decision to go to Compulsive Eaters Anonymous tomorrow night (Tuesday).

Seriously... things can't get any worse on the eating front.

Please God let this time work for me. If I work the programme right it should be good.

crazykat 12-04-2010 02:24 PM

I wish you the best of luck, I hope it goes well for you.

~Grace~ 12-04-2010 02:33 PM

discovery_journey 23-04-2010 05:37 AM

I am following the programme and have been abstinent from sugar, flour/carbohydrates for just over two weeks.
I eat three meals a day and nothing in between.
it seems to be going ok so far.

BunnythesAINT 24-04-2010 02:35 AM

That's great! I hope everything works out for you!

ferretmonster 01-05-2010 10:22 AM

Wow,you're an inspiration!

discovery_journey 04-05-2010 12:43 AM

it's not been easy cos I kinda had a mini crisis, but I continue to follow the food plan and programme. It's 3 weeks today that I've been abstinent!

Thanks for your encouragement.

HopeRises 04-05-2010 12:56 AM

Well done, it must be tough.

discovery_journey 04-05-2010 07:57 AM

it's not too bad really...
I have a sponsor (it's like AA, a 12 step fellowship) who I speak to everyday, so along with the food plan I do a question a day which my sponsor gives me. They are questions about compulsive eating and food addiction - they really help focus me.
Plus there's a meeting every week which is a positive experience.
I just keep to the Mantra 'one day at a time'

I've a couple of challenges coming up:

I'm going to visit my parents in France - so I shall have to make sure I have the right food there

Then at the end of this month I'm visiting a friend in London for the bank holiday. So I shall have to make sure I eat the right food there too - I've warned my friend that I don't eat certain foods anymore. I just hope she understands.
Also the no alcohol rule. I find that people aren't that understanding of that which I find really surprising.
I think it says more about them than me!

HopeRises 04-05-2010 03:46 PM

Yeah I get the no-alcohol thing but you know it's good that your not drinking and being healthy and if someone isn't understanding about them then it is definitely a reflection on there attitudes, rather than on yours.

What happens after the plan or is it something you do for life?

the plan is something you follow for life, although I don't really think of it that way because it is so overwhelming to think I'll never eat pasta or rice or potatoes ever again etc...

It's more a day at a time sorta thing, just like with Alcoholics Anonymous, it's no alcohol for life, but one day at a time.

When you have lost your excess weight (you have to set a maintenance weight, but it must be a healthy one) you are said to be at maintenance and you can start to introduce some more foods.

I have a long way to go til I get to maintenance, about 7.5 stone. But, little by little and with a lot of faith, I'll get there!

discovery_journey 12-05-2010 08:00 AM

Well I have been doing the programme for 4 weeks and I got to weigh myself for the first time since I started last night.

I am pleased with the amount of weight I have lost. It is a sensible and measured amount. I have also lost enough that people have said to me, 'oh you are looking well', etc.. so that is nice.

onwards and upwards!!

crazykat 20-05-2010 01:18 PM

Well done hun for the progress your making. Keep it up :)

discovery_journey 25-05-2010 06:02 PM

Thanks :-)

Can't believe I've been abstinent and haven't binged AT ALL since 14th April, 2010.
I've also lost well on the way to a stone, if not more. Am due to weigh myself again in two weeks time.
My stomach isn't as bloated and has gone down a bit - the cardy I'm wearing today is baggy around the stomach!!!
I'm even in a size smaller jeans - ok they are a little tight around the waist, but they fit everywhere else - yay!!

must admit it's hard when you don't feel like cooking as its not like i can throw a ready meal in the micro wave.
but asides from that it's going really well!!

discovery_journey 04-06-2010 07:52 AM

so I get to weigh myself on Tuesday next week - only 4 days time!

I don't feel like I've lost much weight in the past couple of weeks. I've been having problems going to the loo (I know, TMI!!!). Also have only been to the gym once in the past couple of weeks. But am back on track now, so hopefully I can get to the gym a couple of times before I do weigh myself.

Food wise things are 'ok'. I'm still not cooking. My motivation is poor, so I've been making things easier for myself by buying ready prepared salad.

The main things is that I'm still on track and that's what's important. No binges, no cravings. Yay!!

crazykat 04-06-2010 04:47 PM

Keep going hun, your doing well
