Technical Question About Colours And Fonts in Titles/posts on RYL *Long, sorry!*

Hi.

im not sure if anyone can actually help me here and this is probably a little more than a tad stupid anyway but anyhow....

Some of you may notice from my Rant/Venting thread that today after two years plus [yes ok two years] i finally realised how to add colours to your post ie colouring fonts.

Yes im slow and a bit supid ok![Seriously i KNOW i am].

But i fiddled with this for a couple of reasons.Firstly cos i was curious and at times think colour can help a post to look better - but id stuck with black as i dont see well and black is easier for me to read personally.

But secondly i have been having a few problems recently reading some of the posts when people have used really pale colours in all/bits of it.And so i wanted to see what was available.Personally due to my disability i struggle with [or in some cases are totally unable to make out/read] anything pale - pale yellow, pale green, light pink or light purple, light blue or cream etc - just to give a few examples!

Now i know sometimes people use these colours cos thats their intent. They need to write things they dont feel comfortable with others reading or they want to make things less triggering for others. But i am also aware that sometimes people may also use certain colours cos of how they are feeling when they write etc or to try and make things stand 9out by using a different colour [even if pale -sory if thats confusing but i know what i mean!] and basically sometimes i cant help but feel that when i struggle/cant read these things maybe im missing out on essential parts.

This is also the same with some fonts used by members recently. Some of the fonts are totally unreadable to me even in black. This is no criticism at all.As again fonts can be used to great effect and i truely believe that also. But i mention my difficulties with these also cos it forms part of the question im coming to.Sorry this has been so long.

Basically cos of my sight problems i usually use specialist Assistive Technology to use the Internet. This makes the internet in general and also of course RYL as a site appear on my screen in much larger print [usually four times the size of normal print is what i need for the internet and what this program provides me with]. However though the program can play around with desktop backgrounds and stuff it cannot change the colour of individual bits of texts when i am viewing it [just so i can see it better] or the font of the text.

Is there any way via the site i can change how the text appears to me just for my own viewing [not in order to change the persons post at all or how it appears to others but just so i can access it] ie if they were to write in a pale yellow [but a pale yellow those with 'average sight' so to speak could read] is there any way that i could change my settings to view it in a different colour so i could see it for myself like anyone else would? And the same question for the fonts that are unreadable/unmanageable to me due to my sight difficulties?

Is there any way i can change my own settings so they are viewed differently but do not effect the content of a persons post or how it is viewed by others??

ive just noticed it happening more recently where ive had problems with the colour and font thing on occasions with not being able to totally access things and what has been written - probably due to my awareness of my own problems that im maybe realising this more but also possibly partly due to people using these features like the colours and the ability to use different fonts more in their posts which is great and i think actually a really positive thing but just sometimes occasionally rarely causes totally unintentional extra difficulties for me.

im sorry if this hasnt been understood or sounds stupid. It probably does and im probably wrong to post it and know that nobody can probably help.

i just thought maybe it was worth a shot but more than happy for thie to be taken down if necessary.

Sorry.

There was a recent post about this: http://www.recoveryourlife.com/forum...highlight=text
James mentioned that a feature like this might be available soon, but as of now there is no way for you to do this.

Adding to above.
I have some mild reading issues. What helps me follow the text [particularly longer passages like yours. don't feel bad, i find that annoying :-p] is highlighting it with the curser
Basically click and drag the mouce along.

What it also does is turns the background of the highlighted text blue, and the text white. Or white and the text blue if it's a light text color.
It helps with odd colors too, as it's black/white color [erm, i suppose blue and white] rather than shades

No, don't delete it, since this is an issue that has been brought up several times, you will want the administers to see this so they remember to make the option available.

It's really not your problem, I didn't learn to read properly so I have trouble following more than a few sentences in a paragraph... on top of what's probably mild dyslexia thats just ignored as poor spelling
