How the heeby jeebys did you decide where to go?

I'm choosing between falmouth and plymouth but I can't decide and don't want to so would someone like to do it for me thank you :)

Well, for me I only had one choice. I needed to stay at home because I couldn't, and still can't, afford to move out. Scotland might get free tuition, but the support package is pretty crap.

I would suggest going through this checklist (in no particular order):
- which course do you prefer? Look at all the years, look at options to do outside modules, etc
- which location do you prefer? Have you visited to get a 'feel' for them both?
- look at the clubs and societies on offer, see if any take your fancy, and if a gym is something you want compare the prices because there can be massive differences
- look at accommodation, not just uni-owned for first year, but in later years. Can you afford to live in both places?
- look for things like supermarkets. Yeah, being in the city centre might be great for nightclubs, not so great for doing a weekly shop!
-look at library/other study facilities, some can be a lot better than others

I pretty much picked one out of a hat!! I couldn't choose between Reading, Roehampton, and Essex, and in the end picked Essex because the campus was more compacked so I thought I would be less likely to get lost!!
Whichever you pick, I am sure you will enjoy it greatly :) Uni can be really fun as long as you get the right balance of work and play.

I think this is a lot easier here in Norway. We get what's called "student-loan", which is a small amount of money each month (if we decide to not live at home when we study), that covers the rent of student-flats and such. It's absolutely no luxury, but it makes us able to focus on the studies 100% and not have a job at the side. (Most people do have a job too though, but I don't. I don't need money, I just need a roof over my head).
So when I chose my university I chose what subject I wanted, and picked out the best one.

(The money has to be payed back, though. If we complete all exams 40% of it is made into a scholarship and we get to keep it. The rest have to be payed back when we get a job. It's really a great thing.)

There are student loans throughout the UK too, and they are the best loans you are ever going to get in terms of re-payment.

With me I wanted to stay at home... So i made a list of all of the local uni's that did the course I wanted
Then i visited them all and...this might sound stupid but...I just picked the one that really felt right for me! I went there and absolutely fell in love with the place-its not beautiful or anything but the people are amazing.
Research the lecturers a bit....a fun lecturer makes a hell of a difference to your interest levels, and therefore how much you pay attention and subsequently your grades!
So yeah, I chose the one with the best lecturers, decent requirements and a good place in the league tables :)

Just visit them and see what feels right - look at all aspects of the uni, not just the course.

Ah well this is my second time around so I have the benefit of hindsight!When I first applied for uni I picked leeds for two reasons 1.i wanted to be far far away. 2.I went there and fell in love it, infact we only visited on a whim and I LOVED it!
This time around I wanted to be closer to home and so chose local unis. But by the time I had decided I already knew where I had my heart set on....its a lovely campus, halfway between home and london, the course is amazing and it was important to me to feel comfortable as a mature student and as 65% are mature students I felt that I would be comfortable there :D

yeah Ive got a conditional offer from plymouth and unconditional from falmouth and visited them both and its still not helped =| eeny meeny miney mo?

What about the other criteria? Picking from a hat (or any other random method) isn't the best way to decide the next three years of your life. There is usually something to differentiate between them.

Have you looked at the stats for the courses as it can give an idea which course is enjoyed most by students?

Did you go to the open days? I think from those its pretty easy to tell. But maybe look at what's in the towns- is there anything there like a scene you're into or a good venue or an events place, good clubs etc?
