managed to find an old letter, unfortunately theres STILL 14 people before me on the waiting list so that puts it at least another few month, it will be over 12 months since I was referred!!

can you not ask to be referred to another area? Newcastle have a big therapy place and it might be quicker to be referred there. Depends on what your waiting on mind. If you need anymore info PM me as i know a bit about mental health services in north east.

Glad you found the number. For the future, if you can't find the number anywhere else or if you don't know exactly who to contact/which number you need you could try emailing or ringing PALS. I've done that before when I wasn't sure exactly who I was supposed to contact because I wasn't concentrating at the time enough to write it down when I was told.

Have you tried contacting a mental health organisation such as MIND? They can often point you in the direction of alternative help and they sometimes also provide advocacy, so could advocate on your behalf if you wanted them to see if they could hurry the referral on as waiting over 12 months does seem excessive.

The MIND website is http://www.mind.org.uk/ and if you type in your post code in the box on the right hand side, they will give you the contact info if the nearest branch to you.

If ever you want to talk to someone, you could try SaneLine http://www.sane.org.uk/SANEline

If ever you are in crisis you can go to your local Accident and Emergency at any time and see the duty psychiatrist.

Take care
