New PTSD therapy STAIR/NST

Hey,
My cpn has refered me to the PTSD clinic and I have started to see this new women ( have only seen her twice) She said at our appt on Monday that she wanted to try and new technique with me, its called STAIR/NST- Skills training in affective and interpersonal regulation / Narrative Story telling.
She said that this is a really new idea and has had really good research results in the US and each person in her team has chosen one pacient with complex PTSD and are all going to start it with this person in a few weeks at the same time, and are getting there supervision via satalite link from the US.
The idea is of 16 sessions 8 with STAIR and then 8 of NST- has anybody hurd or tried this? its just im not sure, I walked out mid appt on Monday after she was explaining this, I have known my cpn for 3years and its taken me that long to get as far as i have in telling her about what he did to me. This women is expecting to see me about 3 more times and then start this treatment. Im not sure if i can trust somebody that quickly.....im also worried that it has placed a time on each therapy, what happens if i dont achieve what she wants me to do in each time, does she just decide to carry on? im so confused at what to do
All i know is im sick of him and what he did ruining my life, i do want it to end, but I just wondered if anybody had hurd of this or had any knowledge, as i have to decide if i want to do this...
thanks xx

Hi,

I'm not sure if my reply is a little too late, but I couldn't help but see your question above. I happen to be taking an abnormal psychology course and my professor specializes in PTSD. She's worked with many Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan and told us about the STAIR/NST procedure. She admits that it's A LOT to ask a patient to go through, but the results have been very good. She also said the key is NOT to let the patient walk out in the middle of a session. It's really important that you stick through it.

I'm not sure if the above info helped, but as she tells us stories of these veterans and the symptoms they deal with, and how they got so much better after this procedure, I can't help but think it might be worth a shot?

Hope this helps,
