Could I have a bit of support?

Going into hospital. Planned how to kill myself. Mum's fighting to stop me going in. Keeps telling me that it's a really bad decision, I'm making such a bad decision, it's really not a good idea, etc. She's acting the doting parent at therapy and psych appointments though. Am being ignored and cold shouldered at home. Tired of listening to her trying to put me off getting better.

Help? Please?

*hugs you tight* I think if you need to go into hospital you should go sweetheart, regardless of what your Mum says. Remember we are all behind you through this and if you want my number tell me and I will call/text you as often as you need while you are in.

Also suicide is not the answer and I think you know that at least to an extent sweetheart. What you really want is for things to change to get out of this seemingly inescapable situation, however you can escape it but in a non-destructive way; by getting the help you need and deserve e.g hospital.

What do you really need right now?

I... don't know what I need. I need somewhere to feel safe and not be trying to hold everything and everyone else together. I need someone to put the brakes on because everything is spinning out of control. I just don't know.

Well I can understand why she is worried. Hospital is often far from therapeutic. Could you get someone from your team to discuss it in detail with her? Her concerns might be unfounded, but they might be legitimate too.

It is also possible that she is taking the need for hospital as a slight against her ability to care for you. This would explain her behaviour in meetings too. Maybe if people gave her some reassurance that it is not a reflection on her mothering skills (even if it IS) she would feel better about the whole thing.

That's a good point, she does tend to take everything personally and want to control things. Especially as she can't actually give a reason why it's such a bad idea - it just is, according to her. I might see if someone can talk to her about that. Thank you, all three of you.
