really need help-sorry for posting

I am really sorry for this post, I haven't been around in a long time and I feel really selfish posting but I really do need some advice.

I have had a really rough few days, yesterday I self harmed pretty bad but one cut in particular was worse than others. I didn't go to A+E because I was too scared, I tried patching myself up with steri-strips but it wouldn't stop bleedings, I eventually gave in and went to A+E today. Apparently I had nicked a vein and the doctor was having a hard time stopping the blood even after almost 24 hours. It was under the 24hours cut off for stitches though. The doc eventually got the blood to slow enough that he could steri-strip it himself, he didn't mention stitches.

This was around 1pm I got it seen too and I have just tried to change the dressing, the orignal one was soaked through and the bloods just not stopping though its not bleeding very heavy anymore. I don't know if I should go back to A+E or not because I know I can't be stitched now anyway its too late, should I maybe just make a doc appointment asap and get him to see it?

sorry this was long and thank you so much in advance for any replies.

Well done in going to a&e the first time. That was very brave.

If you are still really concerned and worried enough then go back to a&e, otherwise make an emergency appointment for the doctors in the morning, or tonight if you have that in your area. You could also try phoning NHS24. They are normally great at advice and can hook you up to chat directly to the right people.

Hope this helps. Take care now,

thank you so much. It took alot to go first time round because I knew that I couldn't lie about how I done it with all the others. I really wanted to avoid going at all costs tonight because that would meen my mother finding out so thank you for saying I should be alright until morning, I thought I would be but really needed some reasurrence. I will call my doc first thing and if I start feeling dizzy or it gets any worse I will call NHS24
thanks again and take care

You're very welcome. I'm glad you're a bit more at ease now. Just keep an eye on it and try not to worry. I know it's scary. The dizziness is important! If you feel dizzy phone NHS24! Make sure you eat something before bed as well. Hot chocolate with a biscuit or something to get some sugar for the blood loss.
Thinking of you,

Sugar doesn't fix blood loss.

If you start feeling dizzy, don't call NHS, call an ambulance.

If it soaks through the new bandage you have put on you need to go back in to the hospital.
