really really need some advice about a SI related tatto i have PLEASE PLEASE help, making me so low

I am really worried about an SI related tatto i have. I really love it and it means so much to me but after about to months of having it, it has dawned to me in the last few weeks that it could be considered pro self harm.

I really, really really don't want this. I am not pro self harm in any way and it has really upset me to think that i may have somthing pro self harm on my arm. Self harm has wrecked my intire life,l i am so anxious about this please please please tell me what you think

On my top left arm i have the words

i weare my scars
with pride
they show my battels
these battles
i have won.
The writing is a script font and the last to lines are slightly bolder then the rest of it

This tatto means so much to me in it's own way but now i am really frightened that i am giving out a bad message.
My fdamily don't think it is pro self harm neither do my friends and nore does another tatto artiest i asked about it but i want the views of other self harmers, because i can get a cover up on it but it would involve having somthingt very big and bright to cover it. The tatto artiest said a half sleave and i am not sure i really want this but i would rather have that then somthing pro self harm
please give me yourd advice i am in such a pickle. :crying:

I don't think it sounds pro-SI. I think it would if it just said you wear your scars with pride, but since you said it shows the battles you have won, it has a different message. IMO.

it doesn't immediately jump at me as being pro, although i can see you might be able to draw that conclusion. However, if you look at it a different way, its about scars (not cuts) and the battles you have won. You could consider it battles against not harming any more?
Anyway, i see it more as you've been though bad times and feel proud to have overcome them and that could mean anything (including but not limited to harming). x

i don't think it's pro-SI. it's not saying you're proud of what you've done, more of what you've overcome. *hugs*

I don't think it's pro self harm, the tattoo focuses on what you have got through not the cutting itself.

I agree, i don tthink its pro self harm, in fact its one of my fav quotes about SH. It shows that you fought to get through it! well done btw

The tattoo shows what a strong person you are. You've gone through life hurting yourself but either you beat it, or you're trying to. Either you've succeeded or you will succeed. If you haven't stopped hurting yourself it can also serve as a reason for you not to. The tattoo would become invalid if you did it again.

I don't think it's pro-SI in any way.

agree not pro-SI at all
i think it's nice, seeing as it focuses on your success

people think diffrent things hun, thats life everyones always going to judge/ not judge on diffrent things, you know what it stands for thats all that matters, its inspiring how far youv come and how you went and got a tatto to show your progress

popsicle 26-10-2009 11:46 PM

Nah, I wouldn't take it as pro-self harm at all. Don't worry, it's fine :)

Tig 27-10-2009 12:44 PM

Ninja Orange 27-10-2009 04:52 PM

It doesn't sound very pro to me personally, although I do see where you're coming from. The last part suggests that it's not pro

lost in dreams 28-10-2009 05:46 AM
