When a thread you might think is useful or potentially entertaining and the such and it's not been posted in for a while so it's slipped down the page(s), then a poster will post a comment, usually with 'bump!' in it, to bring it to the top of the page and to people's attention.

Hope that makes sense?

Yeah it's just having nothing relevant to say but wanting to keep the thread at the top for people to see it.
