need present ideas

The disabilities coordinator at work has been made redundant and is taking early retirement. It's her last day at work tomorrow, and I'm going to drop in with a card and a present for her.

I need some ideas on what to get.

She's helped me immensely over the past few years - in supporting me in being open, encouraging me to advocate for myself, and assisting me in negotiating reasonable adjustments. I want my gift to reflect that gratitude.

Ideas?

What about a Willow Tree Doll?

I got my counsellor one and you can get them with different messages on them (such as saying thank you) They have lovely designs of them and you can get them here: http://www.hsamuel.co.uk

Im not sure what to buy as a gift but a letter expressing your heartfelt thanks is often the best thank you anyone can receive.

So perhaps something small with a well written letter would suffice. you are good at writing and im sure you'd write something lovely.

Hello Katie btw. Long time no see. I do hope you are well

Hello Matthew. :)

Thanks both of you.

In the end I bought her a tiny Elliot Elephant [so that she'd know she won't be forgotten], and I wrote a long letter in the card. She loves the elephant, and wanted to read the card on her own. Wise move, or I think both of us would have been in tears. I nearly cried when I was writing it. She's a wonderful person, and will be missed.

What a wonderful keepsake for her to have!
That was a lovely 'gift', Katie, something original, personal and obviously very heartfelt.

Sounds like a fantastic gift.

Thank you. :)

She really liked it, too.
