Wisdom teeth

Hey all,

Sorry for posting twice in as many days but I promise this one'll be really short. I was just wondering if anybody has any pain killing tips for wisdom teeth they'd share. I have two starting to erupt and have been told that without a prescription all I can find is Tylenol or Ibuprofen, Tylenol does very little, that's what I'm taking right now and I can't take Ibuprofen because of the beta blockers I'm taking. I'm not sure when I can get into a dentist. Any tips would be much appreciated. Thanks ~Jewel~

I've taken ibuprofen with beta-blockers. [low dose though.] But check with your pharmacist, or make an emergency appointment with your dr.

The only thing that worked for me was swirling whisky around my mouth and spitting it out, or putting it on a tissue and biting it.

Another thing that you could do is get a baby teething ring so that you can bite on it. But like others have suggested go to the pharmasict and if it's realy bad you could also try the dentists.

You may also try an oral numbing gel, like orajel. Make sure you following the medication instructions and that there are no interactions with any other medications you are taking. You should also make an appointment with your dentist. Wisdom teeth are easier to deal with before they come in all the way.

Thanks everyone. I am trying to get a dentist appt, I'm really hoping I don't have to have to have them extracted because I'm still waiting on a a referal to a cardiac specialist and I'm not particularly fond of the idea of going under general anesthetic when I don't know what's wrong with my heart, well I'm not fond of the idea anyway but I'm even less so now. But even though they're basically in the right place the angle they're comming in at means they're going to hit my last molars, maybe I'll get lucky and they'll just pull them or something......I like the whiskey suggestion but if I had it there chances are I'd end up drinking it instead, I think I have orajel around here somewhere so I'll dig that out and try it. Thanks for the suggestions everyone.

when my wisdom teeth started coming in i just went into the doctor to have them pulled. i dont see why you should have to go under to get them done. they gave me some numbing stuff with needles and pulled cut mine out. i didnt feel a thing except for the needle. best part was is that after the numbing stuff was gone, the pain was the same as it was before, except now i had good prescription pain meds to block it and i had an excuse to eat all the chocolate ice cream i wante:)
