I know I'm ill

I know that besides my OCD, I'm ill and I really need to go to my doctor but I just keep putting it off. As a 19 year old, I shouldn't be scared to go to my doctor!! Geeze..
Anyway I have been looking on the net at various disorders and seem to fit various models with symptoms and what not - but I need to make like a checklist to take with me methinks, as this is what I did before.

Anyway I'm worried I have some problems with moods - because one minute I'm really angry, the next I'll be tearful. Sometimes I wake up in a mixed mood and then something will happen that will either make my mood really bad, or make it really good.

I've changed my career choice over 20 times since leaving uni and still havent made steps to do anything. I sit at home thinking about it since I couldn't hold down a job because of massive anxiety and depressive issues. I used to just cry at work - it was insane. I've quit 3 jobs in 5 months.

Anyway - yes I really think I will need to go to the doctors at some point. -sigh-

I think going to the doctors' would be a really good step. It's important that you've recognised that you're not well and not functioning as well as you'd want to be in life.

A checklist is a really good idea to clearly identify problem areas and to communicate them with a doctor, especially when making an appointment can be nerve-wracking for people of any age when asking for mental health help.

One suggestion is to not look up the disorders on the internet because many of us will see many of the symptoms in ourselves and can end up thinking we have all sorts that we don't have, and can even adapt our mental states unknowingly to fit these symptoms. I personally don't think it's necessarily such a bad thing to identify a possible disorder that one might have, but really the diagnosing is best left to professionals who have known you for a while or who implement special diagnostic tests.

Good luck at the doctors' - asking for help is the hardest bit, but you can do it.

Thanks Laura, I know what you mean bout looking up things on the internet - I always have this problem (so I guess I could add hypochondria to list ha). But yeah I'm just gonna have to take the plunge.

i agree with everything Laura said =]
asking for help in the first place is often the hardest bit, but you can do it, if you dont get any help then things wont get any easier for you.
good luck
