advice needed.

well to cut a long story short i am probably going to be admitted to an acute psychiatric care ward on Monday. This is the first time i have been admitted as an adult as the last time was into a yound peoples unit.

Anyway because i dont know what to expect i am not sure what to take with me, or what will happen when i am in there.

So really i just need some support and advice on what to expect.

Thanks,
Shelley

Hope you settle in soon and get the help you need honey x
just take something to pass time away adult wards generally have less to do than adolescent ones. So maybe book, magazines, music. xx Good luck xx

Take the same things as you did when you were in the adolescent ward, basically. You'll need clothes and toiletries. Also bring in books and other things to keep you occupied as it gets very bored on the ward. Take a small bag you can wear all the time to keep your purse and other valuables in (including cigarettes if you smoke) as things can often get stolen.

Bedding and towels are provided.

i went in adult for the first time a few months ago, after being in adolescent for 3 years.
it is very different, but you just take the usual stuff, clothes etc
i found that they trust you a bit more in adult

Hey,

I hope the hospital stay helps you and gets you on the right track to feeling better real soon :)

What happens usually varies depending on what you're being admitted for and which hospital, but you should have a named person that you can ask if you're not sure about anything. You should be involved in your care the whole time and know what's going to happen.

I've found a few links that I thought you might find useful. Hope they help.

What to take and what not to take to psychiatric hospital

What happens when I get onto the ward?
